everything was sooooo much better before, right?
So, lets go back in time, to a time where they had large artwork wrapped around an analog sound storage medium called VINYL.
You dont know what vinyl is?.... you are to young to enter this competition.

The cover art work is from a cartoonist's work, called "Droodles. " There was a series of little Droodles books from the '50s to the '70s, by Roger Price. Frank was apparently a fan. I used to love Droodles when I was little.
Here.

I used to own one of the Droodles books, and enjoyed the minimalist style; the "Ship Arriving too Late" droodle was in that one, and may also have featured on the back cover. Zappa had worked for a while (early 1960s) as a graphic artist for a greeting-card company, which may have been part of the source of his liking for Droodles. Though he employed others to design his album art, he continued to do visual art throughout his life -- sometimes as a means of sketching out structures for musical pieces he was working on, and sometimes just for the sake of making something.

Queen - News of the World
The Queen News of the World cover art was a reworking by artist Kelly Freas of a piece he'd done 25 years previously as an illustration for a science fiction short story.

Thanks for that link, i had no idea he was so good with other medium than music,
his mixed-media-collage pieces was extraordinary i think. but it's clear that he was talented by looking at his early work as well, "a day at the beach" got a wonderful life to it....

the sound engineer for Pink Floyd and The Beatles; Alan Parson.
Alan Parson Project - EVE

not so easy to see at 200px but under the vails these lovely women have scars and boils on their faces,

another strange and wonderful album:
Pink Floyd - Meddle

Vinyl literally still exists to this very day... ;)

I don't personally own any vinyl, but here are a couple albums with covers I like that got the vinyl treatment:

vinyl-album-cover-art-av.jpg

Billy Talent, Dead Silence

vinyl-album-cover-art-av2.jpg

Muse, The Resistance

I hope these are OK, even though the time machine only had to go as far back as 2009... ;)

OMG we are still doing this right?
for another 10 hours or so, i'll put up a voting thread tonight. Them YES albums are cool btw:)

They are very ok

So, last call for entries, a voting thread will come up later tonight.
My last entry will be the first album i bought in my life,
i have a vivid memory of that album, ofcourse, it would be cool if my first album was
like Thelonious Monk or PinkFloyds ummagumma or something, but its this one:

Colargol-the singing bear
