Since 80´s we´ve got two MU stories which dealt with Empire coming to our universe to conquer us. MU Saga and Dark Mirror. Both of them were in separate reality to each other and DS9 made them not "anti-canon".
But the idea is still potentionally kicking. Would you like to see some sort of resurrected Empire trying to get foothold here? After all, experience of Mirror Spock taught them that pacifism can be dangerous... Of course it should be some sort of subtle conflict not comic-like action. I personaly would love such a thing.

Ordinarily I would hate this concept with the intensity of a million supernovas, but I'm bored of what's on TV, so yeah, why not.

However, there's this one little thing they need to remember about the MU going forward: no more depicting homosexuality in the MU when you're too chicken to depict it in the same degree in the regular universe.

I know they didn't mean it, but it sends a really yucky message.

Actually, there were three. Shatner had an MU invasion of our universe in his novels Spectre, Dark Victory, and Preserver. These were in fact in line with the MU as depicted on DS9.

Part of the fun of the MU is that it's the current universe playing dress-up and being bad - that's what gives it its punch. But I don't feel like I've seen anything really great come out of the current universe in some time, so I can't get all that hot and bothered about the Mirror one...just a bunch of thugs needing an ass-whooping...meh.

How I'd like to see it happen though? You'd have to pick one from the myriad evil alternate universes and then probably only one power therein with the crossover technology and the strength to attack. It's doubtful different universes would attack at the same time, so you have the Terran Empire invading or the Klingon-Cardassian Alliance, but not both...at least, not in the same book... You could argue that all the powers in that universe would band together in an opportunity to attack this one, but it's too arch, no?

Also, the crossover tech should be really rare or every two-bit mercenary from over there would be jumping here for a quick slash and grab. The same with a minor power like say the Mirror Sheliak jumping over to conquer the local Miradorn.

Not an invasion, as such, just an alternate MU where the Terran Empire still exists.

Dark Mirror, fine though it was, wimped out by having the Empire now be the "United Empire of Planets". Just stick with the TERRAN Empire!

So if you came face to face with your evil mirror self...you could phaser yourself into dust yeah? Tricky, I bet your evil self could....good plan from the MU. Send all the evil versions through to attack the good versions!

What I had in mind would be reformed empire in standard MU. It would be hard to explain I know, but it could be interesting. Imagine New Empire that got it´s power and technology from some sinister background force... I already have sami-fanfic idea on this.

Come again? That was just becouse we´ve never heard "Terran" at this point in connection with MU, wasn´t it? It was DS9 that started this using of "Terran" all the time and I even think that it was originally was supposed to be racial slur on the part of the Alliance...

Around 2006, after rejection of a Romulan War movie and before confirmation of a TOS prequel, I'm sure I heard of something like this being toyed with for Star Trek XI. Shatner would've been the villainous Emperor Tiberius. Having escaped Spock's treachery, leading a fraction of the Terran Empire loyal to him, against our universe. The draw of the film was to have three Enterprise Captains - Kirk, Picard and even Archer in it somehow. Perhaps this was Bryan Singer's idea for a film encompassing the whole franchise, I don't recall. Maybe it was a wild fantasy combining Brent Spiner's Justice League of Trek idea and the high level of fan appreciation ENT In A Mirror Darkly achieved.

The term "Terran Empire" was created in DS9's MU episodes. Mirror, Mirror only used the term "Empire." Therefore, since Dark Mirror was written before DS9's MU episodes, the term Terran Empire didn't exist, and United Empire of Planets seemed like a logical contrast to United Federation of Planets.

I´m just feeling like Quark in the end of Who Mourns for Morn?

You know what might be fun? Evil Terran Empire Commander Sisko of newly annexed Deep Space IX...the Cardassians were peace-keepers or something...keeping the ancient Bajoran civilization, one that like the Vadwaar "brought fear and conquest to countless worlds," under control in an effort to reform their society, to nation-build. Bashir is a fool who only graduated from Starfleet Medical because of his rich family's connections/donations. O'Brien is a snooty aristocrat looking down his nose at the locals and manipulating Bashir for the money. Opaka is a Medieval troll of a Pope; Winn, Mother Theresa. Kira's a seductress waiting to unleash Bajor once again while Sisko's trying to absorb it into the Empire.

...Basically, yet another MU. The one they didn't go for on DS9. Liked "Crossover" and all but...roads not taken...

I'm personally more fond of "Sovereign Empire of Planets". Not "United".

Instead of NCC (Naval Construction Contract) it would be NCO (Naval Construction ORDER). Build it...or die.

Could have a lot of fun with a strong imperial adversary - if it was done right. Ron Moore likes doing super-dark things. Maybe this could get him back in the Trek fold. Call the main Imperial Flagship the ISS Pegasus. :D

Personally, I always liked the MUS. I believe they simply used the term "Empire" as well, since those issues were published long before DS9. I also think they did a nice job following up TSFS, and a good origin for how the Empire rose.
