North Americans take note: the Region 1 DVD and Blu-Ray release of Torchwood Miracle Day has been announced for April 3. Click here for a list of bonus material and cover art.

Good to see this finally coming out. I'm not in the States - so did Starz end up replaying the miniseries or something? That's the only reason I could figure out why we didn't get the DVD/BD release over here months ago alongside the UK.

Incidentally the set includes the Web of Lies motion comic with Eliza Dushku.

I'll give this a pass. Miracle Day was okay, but nowhere near the buy-worthy level that Children of Earth was. Next time SPACE does a TW marathon, I may watch it again, but otherwise not too keen.

^ Yep. Miracle Day was good, but it felt a bit flat, too forced and dragged out at times. Children of Earth was certainly more low budget and may have even been a bit over the top, but it packed a greater emotional wallop and had a clearer message with tighter pacing.

Not terribly interested in purchasing Miracle Day.

Well I am. I thought it was a much better, deeper story than Children of Earth. COE was a good story, but would have been much stronger as a 3-parter. Miracle Day actually felt like it had scope. And it gave a chance for characters to breathe a little.

Does this mean it will also hit Netflix that day? I haven't watched it yet, and I have no intention of buying it.

Unlikely. Starz refused to renew its contract and just pulled its entire library from Netflix.

Yeah, I just about disagree with everything you just wrote. Miracle Day is crap, pretty much from beginning to end. Ok, episode 2ish onwards. You're right though, it DID give the characters a chance to breathe... removing any sort of tension, drama, all that stuff.

Awful, awful, awful.

There were a few things I liked which came about during Miracle Day, but the overall execution of the series was pretty bloody awful.

Normally I'd re-watch this since it's in my bailiwick, but there's no draw. Miracle Day is done for me and I'm over it. I'd never buy this on DVD unless they actually DID SOMETHING with it in the future... And even then, it's easier to pretend it doesn't exist.

Miracle Day as a concept was good...as executed was...well...terrible...

And since the Doctor was routinely landing on Earth when it was supposedly occuring and never once said "Everything's a bit dystopian today" I choose to ignore it!

Miracle Day was kinda bad, but not as fantastically bad as Torchwood's first season could be (especially with a Chris Chibnal script). I prefered the cast ensemble and stunt casting with supporting characters to a lot of the storyline.

But was he? If we assume Miracle Day covers the same time period it aired, just like most modern day episodes of Doctor Who since Moffat took over have, then that means it takes place from July to September 2011. Maybe not exactly, there is something of a few months unaccounted for near the end of the season. But anyway, the only time the Doctor visited Earth during this time period was the opening scene of Let's Kill Hitler. And since he was just investigating crop circles he may not have noticed how dystopian things got. The real question is are Amy and Rory still immortal since they weren't on Earth when Jack and Rex reversed the Miracle by bleeding dry into the anus/vagina/whatever the hell that was?

Sphincter.

And even if the Doctor didn't happen to land during the Miracle, the aftermath would last for years...concentration camps, reclassification of life etc...entire countries that collapsed? It wouldn't be undone by the time the Doctor landed again, it would take generations...

And Amy and Rory have families so they must have known about it...

I don't know if I could agree with this. The first series is bad, but there are a few stories here and there that I like. And the stories really only last 45 minutes or so. AND, I can sort of excuse them, they were figuring out what Torchwood was.

There is NO excuse for Miracle Day.

AND, I loathed the stunt casting. Hey, we're bringing this person on... and now, they're dead. WTF?

I felt there were too many episodes where the story could have taken half a dozen steps forward and move things along, but instead they only took one step or half a step. This story could have taken half as many episodes to tell. Pacing at times was lethargic.

Also, when it was first on, COE ran across 1 week on the BBC, so to a a degree you could forgive it if it seemed to drag a little in the middle because it didn't take 2 and a half months for nothing to happen!

Hmmmm...This is startling seeing people talking about COE dragging? COE was so intense and tension filled, it's hard to rewatch marathon style, it's draining, because it's such an emotional roller coaster with so much happening. Honestly, for rewatching, I actually wish COE had been stretched out an episode or two more. I certainly can't imagine it being any shorter

Miracle Day, yea, it could've been a bit shorter, and they could've done more with some of the High Profile Guest Stars, but, there's definitely worse TV out there.

If they would produce an all new short featurette that told the story of Clyde and Rani having a fun, lighthearted adventure at one of the death camps and include it in the special features then I would definitely buy the DVD set.
