As you know, Rousseau is dead. It was also revealed that Mira Furlan asked to be written out of the show.
Also, there is an interview with Mira Furlan's husband from a Croatian magazine which states that Mira Furlan asked to be written out of the show because she didn't like constantly being in Hawaii. Her husband also states that she might be back for the next season.

"Why did your wife stopped shooting ''Lost?''?
She got bored of Hawaii. She got ''island fever'' - that's how cast of Lost calls it in joke. Simply, she didn't want to be on that island, she didn't want to work that job, so she made a deal with the producers to kill her character off.

How did they kill her off?
Shot her. But, her character is pretty popular with fans of the series, so they leaved possibility for comeback next season."

I thought I'd start a thread about it since it hasn't been discussed all that much.

What do you think of this development?

Maybe they should have hired someone who actually lived on hawiee, or maybe even someone from france who didnt mind being there.

I don't recall her minding spending 5 years in hollywood making B5?

There is a big difference between Hollywood and Hawaii. And I am sure it also comes down to money. If she was being paid a lot to be in Hawaii then I am sure she would have stuck it out, but since she was just a small part on the show she probably wasn't making that much, weighed her options, and chose to move to a place she liked, rather then stay somewhere she didn't like.

It's a shame... I just feel like her character, along with Karl and Alex all totally went to waste in the grand scheme of things.

Yeah, I remember reading an interview of hers from the first or second season where she said that she never watched the show and doesn't even read the other parts of the script, just her own. She really was a Rousseau in real life.

Maybe you should know what you're talking about before you post...

Furlan is from Croatia, not France.

It's a shame she wanted to be written out. I have a pretty good feeling that, if she hadn't wanted to be written out, she'd have a flashback. If they do it creatively, it's still possible, though (in Ben's flashback, have her guest star).

Danielle's death was dissapointing because of wasted opportunity, but the death that definitely doesn't sit well is Alex's (although that makes me hate Keamy more).

The character was French. Hence getting someone from France.

Now don't you feel silly for using TNZ style put downs in a friendly forum?

I'm aware of the character's nationality. Reading his post again, I do see that I misread it initially, and for that I do apologize to biotech. I do not, however, "feel silly," as that hardly qualified as a "TNZ style put down." It may have been unncessary but it was still more civilized than TNZ norm. I freely admit to being an asshole, anyways.

I want a flashback with Rousseau and Ben. nothing else matters :)

We just need

1) a Danielle flashback episode and

2) an episode (maybe the series finale) where she comes back, alive & kicking & grungy as ever and kicks major butt!

So that's really not much filming time in the Aloha State.

And sure we might scoff at the idea of feeling claustrophobic in a tropical paradise, but I gotta agree, just being in Hawaii on vacation for a couple weeks can make me feel ansty and glad to return to the mainland.

I have been well aware of her nationality since around the time of the pilot episode of B5.

Which is why I suggested they might have been better getting an actual french woman to play the french woman, I can see how that might have been confusing.

Dear JJ, Carlton and Damon.
I'm from France and I am a geek. I think I manage ok in English (wink wink, nudge nudge). Can I haz a part in Lost as a French redshirt?

Yours truely,

Mutenroshi.

PS: And if you do so, for once the French/American accent won't feel fake!
