Mike Judge's "Extract"

Timby

The stoicism of the true warrior
Admiral
Dean (Jason Bateman), the owner of a flower-extract plant, tries to contend with myriad personal and professional problems, such as his potentially unfaithful wife (Kristen Wiig) and employees who want to take advantage of him.
Also starring Ben Affleck, Mila Kunis and J.K. Simmons.

My wife and I checked it out last night after debating between it and Food, Inc. ... and I really wish we would have gone for the latter.

Extract is horribly disjointed, with several subplots that go absolutely nowhere. Mike Judge is clearly out of his element, and it seems like he's taking steps back both as a filmmaker and as a writer. It's ugly-looking, and really amateurish. You can tell that they had their certain amount of setups and stuck to them. Bateman enters the house the same way every time, J.K. Simmons came to the door the same way every time. It felt like Judge was expecting them all to do a lot of improv and say a lot of funny things ... and it just never happened. Honestly, Ben Affleck was the brightest spot of the movie -- and how often can you honestly say that? Really, he seemed like the only actor in the movie who was giving a shit.

I wouldn't waste $17.50 on this movie again. Has anyone else seen it?

Yeah its not even as good as idiocracy, which had it's problems andits nowhere near office space. I was really disappointed. I'm tired ofcomedies that seem to have random plotsnowadays which are really just excuses for directors toset upa few funny scenes asif, like you said, they are waiting for improv magic to make funny happen

You have to remember WHEN this movie was held to be released. The last half of August and first half of September are traditionally the times the studios dump their waste on the public.
