The trailer for this show popped up on Facebook - and I thought it looked interesting. Couldn't maintain interest to get through True Blood, but this is by the same author and I'm going to give it a go (and not just because Francois Arnaud is rather handsome).

Has anyone read the books - and would they suggest the show based on them?

Wow, Charlaine Harris looks exactly like I imagined. But between this guy and Preacher I'm getting massive hairline inadequacy issues.

Not sure, it looks intriguing in some ways but looks like it could get tiresome quickly. I tend to give almost all genre stuff a chance as it really comes down to execution. It can buoy a bad idea and sink a good one.

I just checked and according to Wikipedia one of the two writers who developed the show was Monica Owusu-Breen, who also worked on Alias, Lost, Fringe, Revolution, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. I've loved all of those shows, so knowing that one of their writers is involved with this, does make me a bit more excited.

Me too, most of the characters were pretty interesting, and we got some interesting set ups with the girl's murder and whatever the hell (possibly literally) that is under Manfred's house.
So was the girl they appear to be setting up as a love interest for Manfred just a regular human? I missed some of their conversation towards the end.

Creek? I think so - but am guessing we'll discover something down the line that could throw that out of the window. Chuy - the Angel's boyfriend - also appears to be a regular Human too.

Well, I'm thinking most of the humans will probably have some kind of a dark secret that has driven them to Midnight.
New episode tonight:
Bad Moon Rising
TV Guide said:
A deadly predator breaks loose on the night of the full moon. Also, Manfred tries to help his neighbors and grows closer to Creek, a resident witch attempts to rid Manfred's home of spirits and Rev tries to stay out of trouble

I have read all Harris's books and I like this series. Some characters from the Sookie Stackhouse series appear in this too. Since it's on NBC it won't be as racy as True Blood.

Will be watching tonight - with Teen Wolf ending in a month, this seems like an appropriate line-up in my television list (I'm trying to limit the amount of TV I watch).

so far I've enjoyed the first two episodes, several characters other than the lead have grabbed my attention. I'm still trying to figure out who is a normal human and who is gifted. The assassin lady hasn't shown any skill that can't be explained with training; but I won't be surprised if she has gifts. I also wonder about BoBo and Creek's father, there was a shot of BoBo approaching a metal plate in the ground just as he was arrested , and I think he was on his own property. With Creek's father she mentioned that they moved there when she was young, and we have been told gifted folks are drawn to Midnight; perhaps they moved there because her father was drawn in.

looking forward to next week, hope this show has legs :)

I wonder who the vampire in the car at the end of the episode is/was - and what the deal is with Creek's dad.

Creek's dad is trying to protect his family. Bobo has a big family secret that his ex-girlfriend was trying to find out about.

There was a clue in the episode with the succubus. Hint: the kind of victims the succubus preferred.

There are only 3 books in the series so I don't know how long this show is planned to run, but I like it so far. It is deviating a little from the books which is fine.
