Micro men.

Haggis and tatties

Vice Admiral

Anybody catch this little gem in BBC4 or iplayer, great little story about the battle between Clive Sinclair(ZX spectrum) and Chris Curry(acorn) for the 1980s home computer market.

Clive Sinclair played by Alexander Armstrong from Armstrong and Miller and Chris Curry played by Martin Freeman from the office.

And we also see the laboured birth pains of the C5, not a pretty sight, and the battle to be the the computer used on the BBC micro programme.

Def worth a watch.

It's still on iPlayer up until the 21st of October.

I've just finished watching it a few minutes ago. Great little drama, both Armstrong and Freeman were brilliant as usual. Great soundtrack too. :bolian: It brought back lots of memories from my childhood about the early days of the BBC Micro and ZX Spectrum.

And, indeed, also brought back personal memories of the rivalry between us Beeb kids and those Speccy kids. :p Well, at school we actually did use ZX Spectrums for the first few years, then in the late 80s they were all changed to BBC Master 128s, although we also had a more powerful RM Nimbus PC (only one in the whole school) too. :bolian: By secondary school, we all had BBC Masters on a network (one school I went to had nothing but Acorn Archimedes, though), but halfway through the year they were all replaced with PCs, and with it, a golden age of computing was gone forever. :(

I've made some other comments on the programme in a Misc. thread about computers, Holdfast having brought up the subject there.
