Michael B. Jordan to Play Tom Clancy's John Clark

Enterprise is Great

Sources tell Variety that Paramount is developing two pics based on the Clancy books “Rainbow Six” and “Without Remorse,” both novels in which Clark is the main star. “Without Remorse” will be the first film of the two, serving as an origin story for the character.

Akiva Goldsman will also be spearheading this endeavor as the film’s main producer with Jordan, Josh Appelbaum, and Andre Nemec also producing. Paramount is currently meeting with writers and directors for “Without Remorse.”

This is i think the third time they've tried to do the John Clark solo books. Gary Sinise was going to do it, then Ryan Reynolds and now Michael B. Jordan. Third time's the charm maybe?

Clark has actually appeared onscreen before. Willem Dafoe played him in Clear & Present Danger, and Liev Schreiber in The Sum Of All Fears.

Although, as you say, neither of these were actual Clark-centered novels.

Way back when, Savoy Pictures was going to make Without Remorse with Gary Sinise as Clark and Laurence Fishburne as I don't know who, but the studio went belly up.

Back when Chris Pine's Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit was in development, Tom Hardy was signed on to star as John Clark in Without Remorse, with Kevin Costner's character from Shadow Recruit to appear in WR, too, to set up a Tom Clancy shared universe.

A Rainbow Six movie could be great. The book had some really good SWAT style action sequences. With a good director, you could make a very intense action movie.

How so? I've never read the books and I've always enjoyed Dafoe's performance.

because in the books Clark isn't a bitter, washed up, ex-CIA agent.

Without Remorse gives a back story though it was published after his first appearance. It's set in 1970 and Clark seeks revenge of some drug dealers and pimps for the murder of his gf that leads to his recruitment into the CIA after being recruited for mission in to North Vietnam.

Cardinal of the Kremlin he's with the CIA and involved first hand with the extraction of the family of a senior Soviet Official.

Clear and Present Danger he's with the CIA and goes in country to pull out U.S forces when they are betrayed by the U.S government.

Sum of All Fears he's acting as bodyguard from for Jack Ryan who's a CIA deputy director and has a major role in event of the book and still on the CIA books where he continues until Rainbow Six when he's tasked with leading a multinational anti-terrorist unit.

Ebola virus? So that’s where the Amazon show came up with that idea. I thought it was a original story.

Rainbow Six the novel was the first time I encountered the Malthusian/environmental extremist trope of killing a large portion of humanity for the good of the planet, which has since been used in the the Dan Brown novel/movie Inferno, and of course Infinity War. I wonder if it might be a bit played out at this point, but if the Mission: Impossible series is still banging on about stolen nukes, I guess nothing is...

Maybe it is played out. I'll still be happy with it if I can see Clark tell the bad guys "Go hamonize!"
