Mexican drug war comes to U.S.A!

In all seriousness I believe the federal government should legalize all these drugs and start aggressively producing them in order to create an orderly flow of low price drugs to the people and thus deprive the cartels of their profits. Seriously. It would help with the violence enormously, I believe. It would also increase government revenue and help to reduce the deficit.

I agree!:vulcan: Althou, I don't know how well it would deprive the cartels of there cash flow? I mean somebody's got to grow the stuff!

The federal government would do it directly in the US. It would, if done properly, never reach the cartels. I mean it sounds quite bad, but this thing has cost more than ten thousand lives just in the last few years.

^And if nether GOV'MENT does anything about it soon there will be many more dead bodies to come, on the U.S. side of the border! unfortunatly I belive both Goverments are filled with morons!

That might work, but things would get worse before they get better. There's the potential for thousands of new addicts...let's not forget how stupid or self-destructive people are. I've heard the stigma of drugs being illegal is part of the appeal, but still there's plenty of alcoholics over 21, as well as tobacco smokers.

Quite. Certainly crimes related to creating income to get the drugs would increase (although the government would be offering the drugs at a lower price than previously available), but that has to be weighed against the massive number of deaths that are occurring as a result of the trafficking.

Legalize marajuana, sure, but I doubt they'll ever (or should) legalize cocaine, heroine, meth, etc. The cartels will just focus more on the harder stuff.

Which is why I advocate legalizing, producing, and regulating pretty much everything. It's extreme to be sure, but it's an extreme situation.

^I have to agree! the WAR on drugs has been a HUGE waste of time, money, & man power! I would rather legalize drugs, then have more dead bodies pile up down here!

actualy, the government doesn't even have to do the growing, give tobacco companies and other commercial farmers incentives to "switch crops" and in a few months you'll be buying joints at wal-mart for $6.00 a pack

But the tobacco companies are EVIL! & promote CANCER! are goverment says so! They wouldnt go and change there mind..would they?

Those who purchase or use drugs are partially responsible for these deaths. So stop buying drugs and the problem will go away.

Yes, and if people stopped killing the problem would also go away. But it isn't ever going to happen.

Every morning I wake up and hope it's not the 1950's, but the new century where people have evolved enough not to do drugs. Hopefully some day we will have progressed enough.
