http://www.myfoxny.com/dpp/your_money/consumer/090710_Sears_Christmas_Sales WOW! I know the economy is bad right now, but JEZUZ! this is crazy! However I do think this is not a bad idea. If the economy continues to go bad (or god forbid WORSE!)at least people will have compleated there christmas shopping ( or at least pay for the lay-away items by december) & I would not be surprised if the BIG retail Chains like Wal-mart, Target & so on do the same.

I think it's sad that the retail execs only survival strategy is to consider introducing early christmas shopping. And I don't envy the staff having to endure 6 solid months of Slade. :scream:

I'm sure they wish it could be Christmas every day. When the kids start singing and the band begins tp play.... :wah:

I wonder if the staff will go postal after listening to jingle bells (or should I say jingle HELL?)for SIX months straght?:guffaw:

I once went mad listening to John and Yoko's "Merry Xmas (War Is Over)" when it was on a continuous loop in our cafeteria all day - and and I was only in that place for 20 minutes. :(

I have heard a few remixes and mashups of various well-known Christmas pop songs, which I play at that time of year and which does serve to break the monotony at times come the festive season. :bolian:

But sadly, it always seems to be the case in some big businesses that they have to "do the work up and planning for Christmas" as early as possible - in a few cases often starting from the very next day after the holidays end - in order to pull everything off without a hitch and ensure a seamless Christmas for the last-minute consumer.

In July I really think they should be selling summerstuff.. or concentrated on school beginning again after it..
I love christmas..but earlier than november.. no thanks

You know, and this is my personal opinion, but I think they celebrate Christmas WAY TOO EARLY for my taste and that's why there are so many people out there that are bah humbug about it. Yes, I KNOW the product and clothes have to go out ahead of time, but geeesh, they celebrate the holiday WAY TOO EARLY! Its like they start celebrating it after Halloween! No WONDER there are so many people who are fed up with hearing Jingle Bells and Grandma Got Run Over By a Raindeer!!
And I don't understand this Christmas in July thing either. I mean, why are there so many Christmas movies on TV NOW?! Shouldn't the holiday be spent in, oh I don't know, THE WINTER TIME?! I just don't get it at all. Anyone else feel this way or am I the only one here?

I absolutely love Christmas, but I don't want to start hearing or seeing anything Christmas related until late October or early November, and even then, I want it to be gradual, so that by mid to late November, it's really shaping into the Christmas season.

I don't think they have that song over here in the States. I am 39 and I only heard it for the first time a few years ago. We'll trade you for it. You can have back the exclusive rights to that god-awful Paul McCartney x-mas song.

:guffaw::techman: I'd vote for that trade. That Paul McCartney song is simply awful!

Warmest Wishes,
Whoa Nellie

I hate Christmas, and now I hate Sears for reminding of how awful it is in July when I shouldn't have to be thinking about it.

HEAR! HEAR! and does anybody else notice how much RUDER & VULGAR people are to each other during this one holiday?:guffaw: Whats real fuuny is the TRUE origin of christmas really has NOTHING to do with the birth of christ, yet so many ''Christians'' celebrate it!:wtf:

I only put the Christmas music on my ipod a little before Thanksgiving. That is the earliest I want to think about it. October is too early and July is absolutely nuts.

The true origin of Christmas has everything to do with the birth of Christ. That said, the date and traditions have little if nothing to do with the birth.
