Merritt Butrick and Kirstie Alley

Lee Martin

Ensign
Newbie
I've been working my way through the Inglorious Treksperts podcasts and have enjoyed them mostly. In one of tne podcasts there is some discussion about Butrick and Alley's experiences on TWOK. They really gloss over it, even mentioning legal reasons in the case of Alley, and that's it.

I looked around the internet a bit but found nothing. I assume that Shatner was being Shatner when it came to Butrick but Alley?

Can anyone throw some light over these two actors experiences?

Thanks.

I think making a completely unfounded and unsupported assumption about the star actor in the franchise as it relates to this matter is a little irresponsible.

Sounds like a load of nonsense. But any chance to bash Shatner I guess can't be missed

If there was anything like the problem Martin's implying here, I'm sure we'd have heard about it lonnggggg before now. And certainly not from a podcast.

Sorry you feel that way. I genuinely hope you’ll be able to get over it and move on. Peace be upon you.

I read Kirstie Alley's "The Art of Men" (I prefer Mine Al Dante) has a chapter of her brief stint on Star Trek and doesn't mention anything negative towards anyone. She wanted to return and it didn't work out, I assume it was money but as far as the chapter was concerned she was stoked to be on Star Trek and at times fell asleep in the makeup trailer because she had to come in the wee hours of the morning to get the makeup on. I mean, if something had happened wouldn't it be a great opportunity to expose anything naughty in a book?

Did she "expose" anything about any other shows she worked on?

Discussing about the challenges of wellness when it came to her smoking, trials of weight, the men she admired, faith, and having children? Yes. It's amusing and a funny personal point of view of her experience in the business and the men who were in it. Everything she exposed was about herself and the people she admired, the book was not a "HIT PIECE" and again she could have, there's been many books to shovel that shit. She didn't. Who would've thought it? A Hollywood professional who have class?

Sigh. There is one episode of the podcast that deals with missing scenes from the movies. I'm skipping through to see if there is any discussion of TWOK and to try to determine if this may be the one that OP is alluding to.

On a sort of related note I recently rewatched 1984s Runaway (aka Sellecks Blade Runner) and couldn't help thinking of how Kirstie Alley should've been in Trek III instead (with the big 80s perm hair) and Robin Curtis could've been in Runaway (or maybe Kim Catrall instead of Police Academy)

Well, that wasn't it (at least in the part talking about TWOK).
