Trek and Battlestar Galactica on the same platform! Who knew?

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Paramount Global and Comcast are exploring “joining forces in streaming through a partnership or joint venture, among several potential strategic options.” Like Paramount+, Comcast’s Peacock streaming service has struggled to compete in the streaming wars with neither service turning a profit. Both services hover around around 1% of the total TV viewing market share, compared to around 8% for market leader Netflix.

(For everyone outside of the USA: Comcast = NBC = Peacock)

Peacock is not available in Canada . I wonder how this ( if it happens) will affect Paramount plus internationally

" P +" or P-plus
And the P would stand for both Paramount and Peacock at the same time.

I remember when Hulu was supposed to be the kind of one-stop place for the broadcasters to coral their streamed stuff that Netflix didn't want. Now Hulu just seems like Disney's crazy relative in the attic. Consolidation is coming back full circle.
Hopefully, anyway.

It'll probably be some nice, vanilla, focus-group-tested name.

If people can't say your network's name without laughing, you have a problem. :shifty:

It would likely just mean Peacock content would become available on the Canadian Paramount+ outlet.
.

Good point . Probably simular to the Hulu shows being on Disney plus in Canada.

I would though expect some Peacock shows may not be in the Canadian version of Paramount - Peacock hybrid. Certain NBC shows are licensed to Canadian media companies like CTV. The new Night Court for example is on the CTV app in Canada whetes its on Peacock ( and NBC) in the states. So I imagine certain shows wouldn't be available in Canada. This ofcouse assumes this partnership happens

They already do this in half of Europe. The lowest of low hanging fruit of options. Hopefully it helps stem the bleeding.

This is most educational. :)

It's fascinating to see what shows are available in certain parts of the world.
