Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I couldn't find any other thread on it.

Has anybody bought this game yet? I did and it pretty much follows the format of the first one, but is better graphics wise. I am having a little trouble with some of the controls and figuring out how to do things like order air strikes, but other than that it is pretty easy.

The BEST feature is the trees can get run over! The only thing I hated in the first game was a tree would stop a tank, now in this game I can run over trees with mere cars to my hearts delight!

I'll eventually pick it up but in my opinion it's dosen't look like a $60.00 game.
$20.00 maybe but not $60.00

Too many titles coming out over the next few months to get this one.

I just LOVED the first game. I've been waiting for this to come out for so long.

I too will be giving this one a miss. I picked up Infinite Undiscovery this week, and I'm enjoying it a great deal. tri-Ace are probably my favourite developers, but it's disappointing to see they've dumbed themselves down to try and appeal to the traditional 360 audience. tri-Ace have defined themselves by making JRPGs for hardcore JRPG gamers, and Infinite Undiscovery - despite its nifty innovations - plays things a little by the numbers in comparison to their previous work.

Still worthwhile, and probably tied with Eternal Sonata as the best JRPG on the console - which is faint praise, given the competition.

I love that damn song! It is so insanely catchy; it's been stuck in my head for days. I, too, have been infuriating my GF by singing it constantly.

Thanks to that stupid song I'm actually interested in this game now, and I've been reading about it online. Good ad campaign

I stopped and picked up my preorder copy on the way home from campus, but I have no idea when I'll actually have time to start playing it. I still haven't finished Grand Theft Auto IV or Lost Odyssey.

That's what I'm running into as well. Although my list looks a lot different than PKerr's since I have a PS3. For example, the next game on my radar is SOCOM. But either way, there are a lot of good games coming down the pike. Gotta weed some out somewhere.

I think my last new game was Battlefield Bad Company and I just recently finished it, and would like to move on to something else before SOCOM comes out, but I was just reading about Merc 2, and apparently it must be pretty glitchy. I think that sealed the deal for me in passing on that game.

Ahhh.... Thanks for reminding me BFBC and Alone in the dark were the last games I bought.
It's easy to forget some with 80 - 90 games in my library.

I was thinking of getting the Playstation 2 version but after reading some reviews I think I'll have to go back and play the first Mercenaries again.

So far so good, but I wish it had some cheat codes with it. It is getting tiresome running out of ammo in the middle of a fight and then gettnig shot up while running around looking for more.

No glitches so far, though. The game is running smooth and the explosions are fantastic!

Well the honeymoon is over. I am pretty tired of this game. It is a pain in the butt. I pretty much got tired trying to run all over the place recruiting people to help me. Before they will help you, you have to do some crazy mission for them which usually ends up with you dead many times over trying to complete it.

Also you have to collect fuel in order to get some airstrikes so in the middle of a gun battle you are running around looking for fuel so your chopper buddy can pick it up and therefore giving you the abilitry to do an airstrike.

Another annoying feature is if your vehicle runs out of ammo then you have to run around looking for more tank shells. The only way to get an instant resupply is to enter a building then exit and get back in your vehicle. The problem is some of the battles take place in the middle of the jungle with no buildings to run into.

It just seems they tried to cram all kinds of extra stuff in the game thus you have to remember all these different controls. In the heat of battle it is hard to remember which button to push to get a gernade or reload, etc.

I sold it on ebay last night.

I snuck out a copy overnight and played it for an hour... didn't like the handles, the graphics were not to the usual 360 standard, you have to click in the gamestick in order to move faster than a crawl... enh.
