Men's life save by esky

Miss Chicken

Little three legged cat with attitude
Admiral
Two Burmese men survived almost a month at sea inside a large commercial esky. Story here

For those who are unfamilar with the term esky the definition is

A plastic or fibre glass box that is used to keep drinks, food or beer cold. Also known as a cooler box (UK) or chilly bin (NZ).

I would be interested to learn what you call an esky where you live.

That sounds like what we would call a cooler, here in the US...but without a picture, I can't be 100% sure (especially when it comes to something large enough for 2 people!).

That truckbed-sized one is hella cool. I mean, take THAT to a talegate and you'd be worshiped.

"You're not sending ME to da Cooler!" ;)

We call those things a "coolbox" where I come from. Cool (pun intended) for keeping drinks cold in the summer. :bolian:

I know several star cow-orkers who would love to stranded at sea inside a large commercial cooler for a whole month... as long as it was filled with Coors. :wtf:

I'm guessing "esky" probably comes from a brand name, like "Eskimo Cooler" or something like that and it became an all-purpose nickname.

What an odd story.

We would call it a cooler, but more often I (and those around me) use the term ice chest.

Am I the only one so completely obsessed with Star Trek that they thought the thread title said "Dresci" and the story was about Captain Dirgo ?

Yes ? Oh well, give me a break, I'm not awake yet! :angryrazz:
