A Cure For What Ails You

After experiencing visions of Scanlon and Lynn DiNovi's friend dying in a home mishap, Allison struggles to see the connection between several “accidental'' deaths which inadvertently puts her health in jeopardy. Joe must find a cheap and inventive answer to Marie's need for glasses.

Average. Still, the show is always engaging. Even if the murder mystery plot is a little tired the family life makes up for it. (I wonder if Patricia Arquette gets tired of scenes where she bolts awake after a dream?) Are all the girls mind readers or psychic? Is Lee's girlfriend also in the DA's office? I wondered why she showed up with Allison & Lee when they confronted

Above average. I loved this episode. I figured out what was going on (probably like most of us) way early but it was still enjoyable how it all played out.

Favorite parts of the night:

I loved how interested Joe was to hear about the dream when she said that Lee and his girlfriend were in bed together.

I also loved when Lee said that he was getting out of bed and had no clothes on and for Allison to please close her eyes. Also towards the end when she called him and he said something along the lines of, "If this is about me leaving the toilet seat up right now, I'm alone. But if it will make you feel better, I'll go back in and put it down.

The story was great. Kind of a knock off of the Hitchcock "Strangers on a Train" but it's a great story to work off of. I thought they did a fantastic job.

I admit it. I just wasn't feeling this one. Allison's case was not very interesting and Joe's subplot was rather boring. However, the look on the doctor's face was very funny when he realized Joe was telling the truth about Marie. It was a mix of "WTF" and "Who are these people?" that made that part of the story almost interesting. However, it was the only payoff the episode had.

Oh and what was with Joe's bad mood? He goes through years of interrupted sleep, crazy dreams, wild goose chases and strange plot twists but he decides to go all manic when his wife falls ill and has to be rushed to the hospital? It was just so out of character for him. I can understand him being freaked out about the money but the rest was a little to over the top for me to believe. For a little while, in the middle of the episode, I thought I had missed something since it was so out of left field.

I gave this one and Average. So far, this has been the only real bump in an otherwise excellent season so I am willing to give it the benefit of the doubt. For all we know this was a rush job before the writer's strike hit and the script didn't get a needed final polish.

I do hope things start going better for the Dubois though. Even I am getting depressed watching them struggle. Joe, take Allison to Vegas already!

AD, I wondered about Joe's cranky mood too. It did seem out of character. I hope this isn't a foreshadowing of Joe getting involved with his new boss. Surely not - especially since Allison would dream it.

I don't think Joe would cheat. That seems out of character for him to. But I wouldn't put it past this new business partner to try and cheat him though. The writers do seem to be setting Joe up for something but who knows what it could be.

IMO, I think that Joe's mood is more due to not feeling like he's supporting his family well enough. Both of the things that went wrong on the family front had to do with him having to tell people they didn't have insurance. It can't be easy on someone who did such a great job and had a great job to be going through that kind of thing. I'm sure he'll be fine once things get going better and they get some insurance back.

Little Marie is so cute! Anyone know what the actress who plays Ariel is doing? Obviously she's away for a while, but not going anywhere, as they keep referencing her. I guess she did have a quick scene last week, but it seems she might be busy elsewhere for a while.

I liked this one. I didn't figure it out until the second dream in the airport, which was nice. I did feel sorry for Scanlon's girlfriend, losing her friend and finding out her trust in the husband's character was unjustified. I both like and hate that in the end, they couldn't prove it and the killers got away. I know that's how it goes sometimes, but you hate to see the good guys lose.

Joe's frustration didn't bother me at all - it seemed a natural progression from the stress and his reactions to it over the past weeks. It just finally came to a small head for him. I can see business partner cheating him, even tempting him to cheat on Allison, but he'd never fall for it. At least he'd better not, or the writers will have all manner of fans on their backs crying "character assassination"!

I think little Marie is cute too. All 3 of the girls that play their daughters are great. The one that plays Ariel has practically grown up before our very eyes. What I wouldn't give to have her hair. Of course, it's probably more trouble than it's worth. I have straight, fine hair and all my friends with thick, curly hair all say they would kill to have hair like mine. I guess the grass is always greener.

Anyways, yeah, I didn't like that they got away either but maybe, like Lee said, somebody will crack eventually and tell the truth.
