McMaster Bridge Blueprints: Roddenberry Approved...or not

I'm going through bins of stuff from storage looking for things to sell, and I came across my first edition of the McMaster bridge blueprints. Printed on the envelope is "Gene Roddenberry Approved", but that has been blacked out with magic marker. Anyone know the story behind this?

I'm not sure how overall accurate they are, but those were not officially done to my knowledge. They are definitely accurate enough that Roddenberry would have found them accurate. So it is theoretically possible McMaster showed them to Roddenberry and had verbal approval.
