May Art contest - Klaus

Figured I'd stake out this territory quickly lol.... I'm going to work on TOS Borg.

I plan to do some of the Borg themselves, but here's a go at the ol' cube:

Drat! There goes one of my ideas :borg:.
Still, at least this means that with less to dither over, I might actually get around to producing something this month. So, thank you, Klaus :)

* hastily attempts to TOSify Tom & B'Elanna's Voyager flight-suits * :lol:

The rules don't prevent you from doing something someone else is doing.

I like the cube Klaus, but it seems too elaborate for Classic Trek. It would probably look closer to a transistor radio turned inside out. :)

I was thinking that it was pretty simple lol... just squares on the outside. Well here's a go at the Borg themselves.

Still too much detail. Think of the TOS props - simple shapes, solid colors, few if any greeblies, no textures. The suit would likely be just a black leotard (or fuscia, given the era!). They'd probably scavenge an old camera lens for the eyepiece and mount it in a simple plastic frame. Stock stereo headphones painted gray with maybe a couple of interesting greeblies...

I'm not entirely sure the Borg as we know them can even fit as a TOS *concept* - it seems to me that there needed to be much more awareness of the idea of computer networking (the Internet existed, but just *barely*) before the idea of networked people could work. TOS Borg probably would have been much more like bees or ants, and that sort of hivemind. They'd have looked more like this:

Lol I like the bee-borg hahahahaha!

But all jokes aside, they had a concept of robots in the 60's. Think about Metropolis and The Day the Earth Stood Still. So combining that what they already knew with fusing it with humans isn't that far fetched.
