May 2016 Art Challenge - B.J.

Figured I'd put something in for my own challenge! I wanted to create a flag for the Enterprise herself, and then show its evolution and use for the following ships. The design focuses on the exploration mission, with the stylized galaxy and warp trail. The big "E" echoes the logo for CVN-65. A star is added for each of the previous ships, and of course the registry suffix is added. I'm not really happy with the final result, but I couldn't think of anything better.

The addition of the suffix makes it chaotic. I'd remove it all together and instead focus on the stars.
It does look a little bit like something that you'd find in a dorm, though...

That "Galaxy" logo- I'd save it for the D. I agree that you should remove the suffix. For the other classes, find other logos. A basic image of a constitution for the original and the A. I'm not sure about the excelsior and the ambassador. For the Sovereign, I'd come up with a symbol that represents a ruler.

For the B, the Starfleet arrowhead (Excelsior means "ever upward"), For the E, a crown. I'm not sure about the C.

On the other hand, all the Enterprise ships had a mission of exploring the galaxy, so I don't think the galaxy is inappropriate.

But I personally like the inclusion of the suffix. I vote keep it.
