Maxwell Lord has been cast in Smallville

It would seem that Checkmate is adding to it's roster of agents with the casting of Maxwell Lord who is described as a villain although it's not known yet which version of Max we'll see in the show. I'm guessing that it will be the Infinite Crisis/Checkmate version of Max that Wonder Woman ended up killing since he's described as a villain. Gill Bellows of Ally McBeal fame has been cast...

This season has been gearing up to what most of us hope is something pretty amazing and I just hope it is worth it.

I'm looking forward to the season finale because of the building and seeding that has been going on. As much as I'm disgruntled about things I do think we're moving towards something spectacular.

I hope they are going somewhere with this as this season has been pretty dull so far, with more than a few filler episodes, in particular the atrocious "Warrior" from a couple of weeks ago.

The show usually wins me over with its generally exciting and entertaining season finales, but even that let me down last time given how bad "Doomsday" was. I wanted the show to be renewed just so that wasn't the last episode.

Getting rid of Tess, aka the New Lana, would be a good start on the road to improvement.

Tess has become a weaker character since she learned from Lana that she had been manipulated and watched by Lex in secret. It's been kind of hard to try and decide what she is around for if not an elaborate seat warmer for when Lex eventually returns. I would hardly go as far as calling her the new Lana Lang. Cassidy Freeman I think has been a far better actress than Kristen Kreuk and i actually one of the few who liked Kristen, just not Lana.

I love Tess! I have seen what you are both talking about though...and CF is better than KK...however I like KK...always will. Maybe this whole Checkmate thing will help Tess...who knows???

I call her the new Lana Lang because A) she's female, B) she seems to be endowed with mystery powers that make her good at everything and C) she's annoying.

I remain convinced that nobody who works on Smallville has ever worked in a modern office environment. "Make me some tea, and if it's not at the exact temperature I like, don't bother coming back!"

If you're lucky, you'll get fired. If you're unlucky, she'll stomp on your head until it explodes all over the window and then she'll have a frakking orgasm while doing it!

Her key defining characteristic seems to be that she hates men to the point where murdering them gives her a "happy moment".

I always thought Sam Neill would be perfect for Maxwell Lord, but Gil Bellows sounds just as good...
