It's a great book but I'm not sure how well it would work as a movie, certainly not as a big-budget star vehicle. I would imagine it would work better as a miniseries, but I guess it would be treading on The Walking Dead's toes. As a movie, I think it would work better as an ensemble with lots of little-known character actors, perhaps in the vein of Paul Greengrass' United 93.
Could it work similar to The Road, but with zombies?
^ But The Road had its small group of central characters. WWZ has a large cast set over various continents, giving snapshots of how each part of the war against the Zombies (or 'Zack') went, over the years. That's why I'm not sure how it'll work as a movie.
Hmm like Crash or Magnolia or any of those other ensemble movies, but with zombies.
I think it could work fine as a movie with a big cast and maybe 4 to 6 of the episodes stitched together with the "interview" format as the connecting factor.
As for badassery, I guess Ed Harris and Mirielle Enos will provide that.
