Romana I fans will want to take note that Mary Tamm (who recently reprised the role of Romana for one of the Big Finish Companion Chronicles audio dramas) will be publishing an autobiography in early September.

There's going to be a 200-copy limited edition signed by her with some extra stuff. With the strong Canadian dollar, and the fact ordering the standard paperback edition would only cost me about $20 or so less after all was said and done, I decided to take the plunge and order the deluxe version. What can I say, I'm a fan.

The only odd thing is the foreword is apparently written by COLIN Baker, rather than Tom Baker....

I didn't think that she and Tom got along particularly well.

I get the feeling that this was either blown out of proportion, or like other actor-actor relationships, things have warmed up over time. I certainly haven't sensed any of this in all the DVD commentaries they've done together. And while the book might say differently, the official party line (as she states on the DVD) is she left the show because she wasn't happy with the character's development, and was more than willing to film the regeneration scene with Lalla, but was never asked to do so. Some of the rumors about her leaving range from her getting pregnant to her not getting along with Tom. Certainly anyone who has seen the "Doug Who" Christmas skit (included on the Armageddon Factor DVD as a bonus item) can see they had fun on set.

The Colin Baker connection is unclear. Maybe they've worked together on other projects, or perhaps they were classmates. It'll be interesting to see.

For people whose browsers keep getting hijacked by Gallifrey Base's ads, here's a link to the publisher: http://www.fantomfilms.co.uk/books/mary_tamm.htm

I didn't realize there as an ad problem. I haven't had any problem with the site, except that, being part of blogspot, I can't access it using my current version of Safari for Mac, so I use Firefox or my old Netscape browser (which I keep for its webpage composer).

They've done some charity work together, I believe for feral cat rescues.

I'm not used to ad problems with Opera, so it came as a shock to me that I kept getting hijacked with an instant redirect to a site for on-line colleges.
