An Iron Fist film is moving into the scripting stage, says a report at Deadline.
Marvel Studios has brought aboard Rich Wilkes (the "XXX" film series) to write the screenplay, which will adapt the story of Danny Rand, the Marvel martial arts superhero created in the 1970's.

In the Marvel Universe, Rand is the son of a wealthy explorer who trains in the mystical arts and eventually gains the power of the legendary Iron Fist, a magical fighting power that gives him indestructible fists. First using the power his father's death, Rand continued to bear the mantle in the fight against evil. Later, Iron Fist popularly teamed with Luke Cage (Power Man), who allegedly has his own film in development.

In the current comic book continuity, Iron Fist is member of the New Avengers, a team that includes Cage, Jessica Jones, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, Hawkeye, Mockingbird and The Thing (of the Fantastic Four). Studio rights preclude several of those characters from appearing on the big screen together for the time being, but a Power Man and Iron Fist crossover is certainly possible.

I was just going to post this myself. Awesome news. :techman:

Now if the rumored Luke Cage movie goes through, then they can do Power Man and Iron Fist and have two sequels for the price of one.

I actually did. Didn't see this thread at first.

I'm not sure Marvel would want Park for this anymore. Not cause of age but because they seem to be getting more marquee name talent to headline their films. Outside of Thor anyway. Even Chris Evans is a recognized name and heavily recognized actor.
Ray Park has spent so much time under makeup they need a face as well as name to sell this movie I think.

Uhm yeah.. 2nd tier (at best) characters that have been developed to capitalize on a particular period of time get their own movies..

I don't see them as big budget movies.. cheap to produce and having the superhero tag on them.

Having the guy who wrote the XXX movies on board doesn't also fill me with confidence.

As always i'm cautios at this early stage and will adopt a wait and see stance as always but i'm not optimistic but hey, i'm in the minority whi thought that Daredevil is one of the best Marvel movies to date :p

This is an easy choice from Marvel's lower-tier characters to adapt; this sort of character could exist even if there was no superhero genre. It's a wuxia film, basically.

When I was a kid I was a fan of this hero. I still own Iron Fist #1. And I'm a fan of martial arts action in quality action movies, so I'm looking forward to this film.
