Marvel & Netflix announce 60-episode project focused on The Defenders

Deadline reports that Marvel and Netflix will produce four 13-episode series starring Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, which will cumulate to a four-to-eight episode mini-series focused on The Defenders.

Sounds very impressive and ambitious. However, at the same time, they're clearly trying to recapture the Avengers magic on a televised scale. That being said, the project will be both smaller (in budget terms) and larger (in storytelling terms). This can easily go one way or the other, depending on the showrunners, actors, writers, and directors for each show and how well they'll be able to gel on the mini-series.

I applaud their efforts either way. Disney bought Marvel to exploit the characters there and by gum if they ain't doin' just that.

I'm happy. For too long while I was growing up DC had all the cool adaptations and Marvel got all the crap, and I was always convinced that it was cause DC had a powerhouse like Warner Bros as a parent and Marvel kept having to make rump deals with other houses. Now Marvel's parent is WB's chief rival, and we got the MCU.

I say "Booyah!" Let 'em try to do Defenders, pass or fail.
