News Martin Landau has died.

I liked him as Rulon Jeffs in the TV movie Outlaw Prophet; he was frail, yet menacing in the role. He was also great as Bela Lugosi, and I liked his role on Space:1999 (but not the show so much.)

RIP, Martin; a squadron of Mark IV Hawks and Eagles are flying the missing man formation in your honor.

I didn't know too much about him, but I'm sorry to hear about his passing, because his daughter Juliet Landau is really cool and I've known about her for a long time. Rest in Peace Martin ...

I mentioned this up in The Classic/Retro TV thread, but for anyone who gets Decades, they rescheduled to a Mission: Impossible Binge this weekend in tribute.

Didn't Landau consider himself type cast after his run on Mission: Impossible?

I don't think so, judging by him being on Space: 1999 a few years after. Of course, that show may have typecast him, so maybe that's something to consider.

Landau's "Rolin Hand" was essentially a new character every week. How does that typecast someone?

If he was typecast, he seems to have come to terms with it later in life:
