March Writing Challenge: The Cliffhanger

Ha! Since I am not entering this and I noted the level of perturbation (ok, I know it's not a word, but I work graveyard, just got off shift...and you probably know what I mean :confused:) at my Feb entry, the March challenge is a Cliffhanger. Let's see who can get more people wanting more, in a bad way...

It can be original fan fic universes...or cannon-like ones/characters. But the twist is that the story must contain something completely non-cannon. Some new alien, some new "anomaly," etc.

I'll give you till the 31st of March...and 6000 words to do it, but don't think that a much shorter entry couldn't win this one...

Other than that, anything goes....time travel, mirror universe, etc.

P.S. I really am humbled by being awarded the win in this months challenge, especially after both being gone for so long, and entering against such quality entries.. Thank you, if you vote went to me, and thank you for just reading my entry.. I guess I'd better get back to the Shepard story now...

Oh yeah, the caveat...don't win/enter unles you want to give people the next part of the story. I figure it's only fair if the winner must write and post the next part of the Cliffhanger entry..

Hmmm...I don't think I'm going to be able to enter this one, but I really look forward to seeing what everybody else comes up with!
 
That's a good one, I like it.

It will also be a rather frustrating challenge. Having a couple open endings last month was bad enough ... this time they're all going to be open ended.

On the plus-side ... the I-didn't-get-it-finished-in-time excuse shouldn't be a factor this time around.
 
Oh I'm liking this months challenge a lot! And since I will no doubt do another Charlie Cross story and probably the next story will be a Charlie story too, a cliffhanger will work quite well...

The newest part of your story is intersting, and I'm not going to say you can't enter it into the contest, although for me it does wrap things up a bit too tightly to be really "cliffhangery." The unknowing of whether or not a transmission got out does add mystery, but doesn't seem urgent enough to make it a cliffhanger.

But I'm not Simon Cowell...

If you want to enter it, go ahead. It's the readers that cast votes that count..

Y'know, I have a challenge in mind and if no one enters it is self-defeated. This bites. How hard is it to write part of a story?
 
I have an entry, however, cliffhanger is probably not the best description as it's more of an intended teaser to what may be a much larger story. Nevertheless, it might fit the parameters of this challenge. We'll see what you think.
 
My story ideas tend to be rather fickle...they come when they want to in the form that they want to--and they don't always fit the challenges because of the tendency for them all to fall into the framework of one great narrative/world. I did end up getting an idea this month...but I'm afraid it was the Ad Astra prompt that it fit, rather than this one.
 
I'm working on something right now!!! I don't know if I'll make the deadline, and if I don't, I won't leave it as a cliffhanger, but dammit I'll try!
 
Hi, I'm new. How I missed this site I have no idea, but here I am now with a kind referral by Mistral.

I don't know if this fic qualifies for the challenge as it has been around for a while even though I am still writing it, but I couldn't help seeing that it fits perfectly into the challenge. I'm happy to remove it from the challenge if necessary.

Though I hope you enjoy it anyway.
