Map Projection in "Worlds of the Federation"

This might be more of a tech question then a lit question, but off hand, in the 1989 book "Worlds of the Federation" by Shane Johnson & illustrated by Johnson and Don Ivan Punchatz, does anyone know what type of Map Projection was used? It looks like sort of a Wagner, Pseudocylindrical kind of thing...

I know, really geeky and specific, but it's for a project I'm doing. My immense gratitude to any of you out there with a penchant for cartography!

Thank you so much! I'm not sure if it will help knowing at the stage I'm at but it's definitely a start! What I'd like is to find a program that can accurately translate this projection into a "Simple Cylindrical" (aka "Cylindrical Equidistant" aka "Plate Carré") projection which is necessary for the project I'm working on. It's ambitious but terribly fun. Thanks again.
