Male Andorian Fahion Model Photoshop Test

This is my first attempt. What I like about it is the variation in skin tone. It includes blues but also purples (like the originals) and greens and whites (where it reflects light like real skin, unlike the caked-on make-up even in recent incarnations).

Real skin has multiple layers and colors in different parts of the body where blood vessels and skin density give us uneven skin tones. Tones whose appearance change also with activity (exercise, shouting) and health (nausea, death).

The silver hair is either a racial difference (their version of a redhead?) or a dye-job...this guy looks fashion-conscious.

Ideally, I'd want to add an bumps in the skin accommodating an alien skeleton, but that wouldn't be for a while. I'd also want to alter details in the eyes, teeth, ears...and for this guy, nipples - all too human.

1) There's no way to tell that's an Andorian as you can't see his antenna.

2) Don't you think that image is a bit risqué for this family-friendly web site?

I had to start somewhere, and what's annoyed me with Andorians, official and fan-made, in the past decade is skin-tone. Especially the powdered-on look of it.

Another factor to consider is that individuals should have slightly different tones as well, even if part of the same race. Otherwise, again, they all just look like they came off the same Hollywood spray-on, or at-home-photoshop, assembly line.

Is it risque? I'll leave it to a moderator to say, but I've seen a lot of Orion cleavage and Caitian arched backs here before that I don't think it's too bad.

Plus, artists often use sexy material when learning something new to keep them focused and motivated during the tedious process.

Personally, I think it's got some really good elements that I was hoping to get feedback on, regardless of sexual orientations. A female friend couldn't get enough of the chrome hair for example, feeling it made him really sexy, and wanted to know if you could really dye your hair like that anywhere.

Looks like a handsome bugger to me.

And for the all the families reading this. Cock, fuck, fanny-hair and arse!

Firstly, I think the actual technical work with the editing software is well done. If there was a person who was naturally blue, I suppose it would look like this.

As to the "risque-ness" of it. I don't think it's appropriate to the forum. There's a spectrum from suggestive to erotica, to pornography. Certainly there have been examples of art on this forum which are suggestive. And this would seem appropriate to Star Trek, which has had had sexual themes since it's very beginning. But it's usually been more about subtlety and innuendo. Examples from Enterprise and J. J. Trek not withstanding.

This image, for my money, is solidly in the "eroitca" category and if I were a moderator, I would remove it.

Very nice work Arpy, it's so nice to see some man-flesh for a change.

Personally, I'd say it's no worse than Carol Marcus prancing around in her undies, so since we had to see that this is just as welcome :bolian:

Nicely done - fairly believable skin tones and variations. As long as it doesn't become more revealing than this, I see no problem; I don't think this is any more suggestive than many images used in advertising, or, as mentioned, something like Carol Marcus's exposure in the latest film. Let's keep the discussion and the language civil (I'm looking at you, hux) and on topic.

It's kinda typical isn't it? Show this amount of skin/nudity on a woman, all is cool. Do it on a man, and some people get nervous.

I'm a male, love women. Also very comfortable in my sexuality to say when I think a man is handsome, and also completely comfortable with male nudity. And if, as a heterosexual male, you can take this amount of nudity when it's a woman, you need to be able to take it when it's a man.

Now, as to the actual art.....

The technical part is very well done. But as to seeing it as an Andorian.... I'd like to see you do a similar image but add the antennae aswell.

It's not the amount of skin showing, but rather the suggestive pose that, in my opinion (and it appears I'm not alone), makes this a tiny bit much for this web site.

Yeah. I agree with Sgt_G. The fact is, I'm all for nudity in art, and I don't judge anyone's taste in erotica, I just don't think it's appropriate for this forum. There are plenty of places where this would be perfectly acceptable, I'm just not sure TrekBBS is the right venue for this sort of content.

Just clarifying my statement above.

I have no problem with male and female nudity or the pose going on this picture. I think you did a fine job on it. Maybe this Andorian is half human? Can an Andorian and a human produce a child together?

You know, I don't find the image distracting, and I do find the man attractive. Given precedent on this site with females, again, I think we should be discussing the artistry, and I'm choosing to take some of this distracted-ness as a compliment for how real this guy looks.

I think multiple elements lead to the image's potency that I think are worth noting for future creations, even ones not hot. I think the shower adds a certain level of verisimilitude. Often in sci-fi scenes are too sterile and empty. I remember when ENT premiered, fans liked that it was snowing during a scene on an alien planet. It added realness. This guy is taking a shower, probably post partying. We feel he, sexy robust he, has an intriguing life beyond the snapshot we're taking of him, our funny lil' blue Andorian in our portrait zoo.

I think the color scheme is also good. The black jeans, white tiles, clear water, and silver hair all seem to compliment the blue and colors of his skin. This could be a photograph taken by an Andorian photographer who knows how to compliment his subjects. Real world photographers, fashion/interior/graphic designers think about color in ways that many fans forget to when creating images like this.

I'm really curious what people think about the skin variation. In ENT's "The Andorian Incident" they went with a reddish blue skin and platinum blonde hair before going blue/white later. The silver/chrome hair wasn't intentional at first either, but I found I like the way it "popped." I'm curious what thoughts come to others about it. Good/bad? Is it a realistic racial variation or do you think it's better a fashion choice? Do 24th century Federation members care about fashion? Has it become less of a loaded subject as people play with it more but assign it less weight?
