Spock seemed to function as OOD in "The Cage". If memory serves, though at my age maybe not.Sometimes, though the convention appears to be that the CO (or sometimes the XO) act the OOD went on duty rather than having a separate officer tasked with the function.
As you may have noticed, all captains have a specific catchphrase they use when ordering to make the ship go to warp. Let's say that you are appointed captain of your own ship. Which one would be yours? And please be creative, don't use the ones that Starfleet captains have already used.
Some of those commands are
- "Let's go" (Archer)
- "Let's fly" (Burnham)
- "Warp me" & "It's Warp time!" (Freeman)
- "Do it" (Janeway)
- "Go" (Gabriel Lorca)
- "Make it so" (Picard)
- "Hit it" (Pike)
- "Dale" (Rios)
- "Execute" (Saru)
- "Carry on" (Saru, still workshopping his command)
- And last but not least...
I'd have to go with the classic "Engage!"As you may have noticed, all captains have a specific catchphrase they use when ordering to make the ship go to warp. No because starfleet isn’t a military
Or if you're leading a squadron of space Marines. (I'll be impressed if someone gets that reference!)"Hey ho, let's go!"
(If you're Admiral Ramone, of course...)
