I'm taking Alabama.

I'm picking the Tide 31 -14, simply because they ended the season so strongly and seem to be the more complete team. The Longhorn defense may have played well this year, but it's not seen a strong, smash-mouth type of running game that the Tide OL and Mark Ingram will be bringing at them. The Tide D-line will be a nightmare for the Longhorn OL when it comes to pressure and protecting McCoy. He will ahve to do some more running, because I doubt he's going to have much time to throw. Think Nebraska * 2.

That said, I will be pulling a little for Texas, because I like Colt McCoy. He's one of those good kids that makes you want him to win or at least do well. Personally... I don't think Texas stands that much of a chance, but then they said that about Texas back in 2006.....

I've got many relatives in Texas that are going to be rooting for Alabama (all Texas A&M grads), and my wife and many in-laws here in Alabama that are going to be rooting for Texas (Auburn grads)! Needless to say, I can't vote lest I get disowned by one group or the other.

Gotta tell ya that I am proud of this Gilbert, the freshman QB forced into action once McCoy was knocked out. Bless his heart he is trying .... but he jsut doesn't have that experience. If he did, he'd never have thrown that shovel pass at the end of the first half, and the situation would be much better right now. Even so... hes out there doing his best.
