Make up a fake bit of Trek trivia!

Inspired by the obscure factoids thread...

Let's have some fun! Let's make up some fake, but semi plausible-sounding factoids about Trek. Nothing insulting or libelous, please.

FACT: Martin Balsam was originally cast in the role of Spock but had to bow out due to a makeup allergy.

FACT: Stonn in "Amok Time" was originally supposed to be a Romulan spy.

FACT: Kirk's original last words in Generations were to be: "Uhura? Tapped that."

FACT: They originally planned to have Robert Beltran appear on TNG's Parallels as the Maquis captain of a ship attacking the Enterprise as a prelude to Voyager. Beltran sprained his elbow playing tennis few days prior to taping and the idea was scrapped.

Fact: "Captain Picard" was originally goin' to be British, but Paramount insisted on a change to French after Patrick Stewart was cast!

FACT: William Shatner refused to kiss Nichelle Nichols out of fear that his real-life affair with her would become public. As a result, Paramount hired a body double.

FACT: The Enterprise model was, in fact, a fluorescent yellow, but because of filming technology at the time, the final result was the white-ish colour we are familiar with. Roddenberry was reluctantly satisfied with the inadvertent change, and never sought to rectify it.

Fact: Michael Dorn underwent make-up tests to portray Worf as a "smooth forehead" Klingon, ala the original series, to keep continuity between television & feature films consistent. It was, thankfully, decided he looked better as a "ridged forehead" Klingon, aka movie version.

Fact: Roddenberry originally planned to reveal the Q was actually a rogue computer virus left over from the near infinitely complex V'ger who thought himself to actually be Lucifer.

Fact: The idea of Chekov being the traitor was thrown around but abandoned for Saavik/Valeris. Walter Koenig actually thought that McCoy or Spock would have been better choices.

Fact: Leonard Nimoy took the "naked Valeris" pictures Kim Cattrall posed for durin' the filmin' of the sixth movie.

:rommie:

FACT: Lloyd Bridges was originally cast as Captain Robert T. April in the original Star Trek pilot, but walked away from the role four days before filming started. Jeffrey Hunter was then quickly cast as the renamed character, Captain Christopher Pike.

FACT: TNG writers considered giving Will Riker a child who would come Wesley Crusher's first love. They went with Worf as the surprise parent, instead.

Fact: "Captain Picard" was originally goin' to be British, but Paramount insisted on a change to French after Patrick Stewart was cast!
They discovered that Stewart's natural British accent was even worse than his fake French accent.

FACT: Genevieve Bujold back quickly out of the role of Captain Janeway once she saw the catsuit they wanted her to wear.

FACT: Charles Bronson beat the shit out of Leonard Nimoy for getting too cozy with Jill Ireland when making TOS: This Side of Paradise.

FACT: Tom Hanks backed out of doing First Contact (the movie) when they wouldn't let him say "There's no crying in Starfleet".

FACT: Picard is actually Wesley's father--the result of a few too many drinks when Picard first met Beverly.
