Here is a story about a powder or sheet substance made from pig bladders. It repairs large holes in limbs and restores legs and arms that were almost to the point of amputation.

The last I'd heard they were nowhere near regrowing limbs, but had succeeded in regrowing a severed fingertip and were hoping to heal burn victims with the extra cellular matrix stuff. The BBC reported with a remarkable video quite a while back:

That's what I had heard. The most it's "regrown" is a finger tip and while it has repaired severly injured limbs it's yet to regrow any body part of note.

When I had surgery a couple of years ago and the doctor took a silver dollar size chunk out of my shoulder, he threw a pig skin graft over the wound, telling me it would promote tissue/skin regrowth. It did, too.

There's something about pigs.
