Just a show of hands, to pin down the ongoing flow of debate threads. How many people actually care whether the Enterprise was built in Iowa or San Francisco?

I'm another one who doesn't give a crap where the ship is built, though it is amusing to see people freaking out about it.

It doesn't really matter to me. As has been pointed out in other threads, real ships are built all over the place and registered in ports. It's just a detail.

Although, I wonder if it's just Trek that is so obsessed with every detail that we have to have stories depicting the construction of both the big E, and the E-D. Does anyone in Star Wars fandom care where the Star Destroyer Executor was built or registered?

I admit that I wish the E was being built in San Francisco. But that's one element out of many to be found in the movie, and would be a poor reason to either praise or condemn the film in its entirety.

I don't really mind, but I do wish it'd been built in California, like the plaque says.

Like a lot of things in this movie, I like the original version better, but am not bothered by the new version.

Except maybe those new Enterprise corridors. Those things are laugh-out-loud funny.

Someone should make an animated gif with them slipping around on the polished floor and sliding up the curved walls like a bike ramp. That or one with stormtroopers chasing them.

Kind of like the slippery hallways in the Breakfast Club? :p

I'm surprised at the poll results so far. I thought there'd be more hard core people against it. As I've said before though:

Enterprise Built In Iowa = Scarecrow For Klingons Who Like to Crash in Cornfields

I only want to see a good movie, I could care less about where the Enterprise is built. The shot of Kirk seeing it built is meant to be like Luke Skywalker staring at the setting suns near his home. It's a call to leave and find his destiny.

This gonna get locked. :D
Well, I was going to let it run and give people a chance to give on-topic opinions. However...

No, they have nerds who fit the stereotype quite nicely too.

Emo Kirk is emo.

...since Captain X already has a quarter of the posts in the thread and not a single one on topic, maybe I'd better lock it. Please continue to vote, everyone. I'll try to bump it up a couple of times so that everyone can see it.

Edit:

Correction -- unlike the UBB.threads software, closing the thread in vBulletin also locks the poll. Sorry about that.
