Always struck me as odd that the show skipped over 1961 entirely. Did they just figure there were no terribly exiting real world events that year and wanted to get to stuff like the Cuban Missle Crisis and the Kennedy assassination sooner?

Matt Weiner had a vision of getting all the way through the decade, so I guess he figured he didn't have the luxury of doing every year. Maybe.

Great premiere. Would've loved to hear Don's interview at the end but I guess that's the point.

I love the way Peggy looks now, and how she speaks up to Don. Why do they put up with him anyway? Is he that brilliant? I guess so. I can't believe Betty and Terry are still staying in the house after a whole year. I understand that Betty felt used and like she had no control when she was married to Don (I had a philandering husband so I really do get it and Don was a lousy husband) but she needs to let go for her own sake and her childrens' sake. Why doesn't she just tell Terry to buy the house from Don? I can't believe that a middle aged man from that era like Terry--who seems like an okay person--would be okay with living in a house another man is paying for. Men used to want to provide. It was part of their sense of self worth. Moving on was supposed to make Betty happier. In her way she's just as messed up as Don is on the inside by her childhood with her cold as hell mother and father who did nothing about it. They're both broken as all hell. Loved that Don's date didn't immediately open her legs. Don's losing his mojo if he has to pay for it now.

Personally, I liked Peggy and Pete's stunt with the hams. A year later and they're still cute as can be.

Good episode.
I liked a number of things like, "You can pay me rent".
Also, 'Knock, Knock, "Hey, Happy Thanksgiving" unzip.
The Jantzen add to the prudes was funny. "Get out, Get OUT"
Oh, and "I bet one of them leaves NY with VD"!!

This is not going to end well. A guy with a past to hide shouldn't be making himself a media lightning rod.

I can understand Don's caution being overridden by his desire to get back in the game, but I'm surprised Burt Cooper doesn't foresee the danger in this.

Or...maybe he does...

On a cheerier note, I wonder if Henry is beginning to feel any buyer's remorse yet.

It was a satirical bit from back in the day about bad soap opera dialogue. I think some dude named Freberg penned it.

I'm dropping Mad Men. I just cannot bring myself to care one iota for any of the characters. Plus I work in advertising. It's no fun to watch an episode about a clueless butthead client on Sunday night knowing that Monday morning will bring a meeting with a clueless butthead client for real. Throwing Don Draper tantrums is not a realistic option in a time of 10% unemployment.

Awwwww, Temis. For the life of me, I can't believe you can't get into Mad Men. Don's a dinosaur. He's an entitled dinosaur with occasional episodes of brilliance. He's also a prick extraordinaire which will be his permanent downfall. That isn't worth relishing?

Oh hell, what was the ending of episode 10 supposed to mean? If Don takes this idiot secretary to the Beatles concert instead of Sally (pretty much the only character on the show I like, even though I usually don't like children in tv/movies) I'll be so fucking mad at him. I didn't think he could sink to even lower depthts, but that would do it.
