For the kind of movie i was talking about watch Warriors Of The Rainbow. A 4 hour long epic
with amazing photgraphy. The fighting becomes a bi John Wooish in the second 2 hours, but it is more or less what i asked fro in my first post.

Any movie that the tawanese and chinese make about the japanese occupation tend to involve a lot of scheming in the movie plot. But at least tawanese historical movies are not blatant propaganda like those historical epics made in the PRC.

You should watch Assembly. Pretty nuanced.

Speaking about occupations during wartime. We could have a historical drama set in British controlled New York City during the revolutionary war. New York was under British military occupation from the declaration of Independence in 1776 till 1783. We could have American patriots spying on the British and British spy hunters looking for Americans agents and some New Yorkers playing both sides in the war.
New York was full of Loyalist Americans and Patriots at that time. Plenty of Machiavellian scheming there by actual historical figures.
