M.A.S.K. is returning...

Interestingly the Specialist Matt Trakker G.I. Joe figure has a M.A.S.K.-like logo on the package, but it does not say "MASK." It says Mobile Armored Strike Kommand, and there is no sign of the expanded term being a trademark. If Hasbro had plans to revive the line, then I would think that they would institute measures to renew their trademarks on key terms and phrases.

I like the jet that turned into a copter or vise-versa (Switchblade?).

Switchblade was quite a cleverly designed toy; probably the "neatest" toy in the MASK range. I liked Manta too (though partly because I thought Vanessa Warfield was hot, in a Baroness way. :D).

I'd love it if Hasbro used the Kenner acquired MASK license and updated it for the modern day. The Vehicles need to be Heavy Plastic & Die-Cast Metal though.

I hate all this low grade transformers plastic crap that falls apart on us.

As far as the cars went, Manta and Raven (the black Corvette) were my favorites. Of course, I was more into Knight Rider than M.A.S.K. at the time, and I hadn't yet bought the talking KITT that Kenner made, so Raven (which had a pair of red circular saw blades that fired out from the front bumper) was my stand-in KITT.

I never actually watched the show; my parents didn't let me watch any of the toy-driven cartoons; I guess they figured seeing commercials for the toys in between all the other shows was bad enough. But I did have a bunch of the vehicles. God, I miss the 80s sometimes.

Ah, the Knight Rider Knight 2000 Voice Car. That was one of my favorite childhood toys!

Many years ago I sold my Voice Car at a garage sale for $5! I had mistakenly been of the impression that my family was in dire straits, so I did what I thought was my part to help out.

Several years ago, as an adult, I bought an out-of-box Voice Car for $65. It wasn't in nearly as good a condition as the one that I owned, but the damned things are way too expensive to buy mint-in-box.

As a kid I was aware that Kenner made both the M.A.S.K. line and the Knight Rider line. As the Knight Rider show rolled into its fourth season, I hoped that Kenner would update its Voice Car with the later-seasons' dashboard, and the ability to convert to Super Pursuit Mode. Alas, twas not to be.

Oh yeah, I vaguely remember that one, but don't think I had it. I did have the Boulder Hill base though; that was pretty damn awesome. You know, I don't think I have any of my MASK toys left today. :(

When I got a bit older, my mother insisted on clearing out my old toys and she gave me a choice between keeping the Transformers ones or the MASK ones but not both. It was like Sophie's Choice! :D

I chose to keep the Transformers ones (they're still up in the attic at the family home I believe), but we gave away almost all the MASK ones (I'm pretty sure I hid at least Switchblade & Manta in with the Transformers though...).

Before Biggles gets around to it, YES, I am his dumbass brother who not only screwed up his talking KITT, I also screwed up Switchblade!

Give me a break! I WASN'T EVEN FOUR!

I thought they didn't let us watch them because of the violence. Heck, the only time we were allowed to watch TMNT and C.O.P.S. was when Dad was out of the house.

Die-cast metal does not necesarily mean a better toy. Plastics allow for greater flexibility in design and transformation schemes. Also, despite what some people think, the TFs of today are quite durable compared to their ancestors. With the use of different types of joints, assembly techniques and various grades of plastic, figures hold together better now than before.

Die cast is great in certain situations, such as Masterpiece Optimus Prime and reissues of the original figures. But having die-cast does not necesarily make a figure better. Case in point: take the original G1 Mirage and Classics Mirage and compare. They both *look* great, but G1 Mirage tends to snap at the waist because it's only supported by one column of plastic whereas Classics Mirage is held together very well and has superior posability to boot.

As for M.A.S.K., Hasbro/Kenner attempted a "M.A.S.K.-esque" laungh of a toy line in the 90's called "VOR Tech" but it never went anywhere.
