I am not interested in Anakin being the "badass" in the Vader suit. I don't think this should be the culmination of his character arc. And I find it rather sad that this is how many Star Wars fans would solely prefer him to be.

Same. It's become an overblown part of Vader's personality is that of a "bad ass" and accentuated by the comics, unfortunately. The comics do a good job, but they also insist upon increasing Vader's feats with no real connection to the character, other than it makes him look super powerful I guess. Which, perhaps is the end of itself, but not of much interest to me.

I didn't get that impression, at least from many other fans. They seemed to be more interested in the one-dimensional villain in the suit than the man inside.
