Today, August 8, 2016 Shatner becomes the logest lived Star Trek regular.
Surpassing James Doohan as of today.
Kind of surprising that none of the other now passed actors made it past 85. That's old but by 2016 standards now really old.
Kelley, Doohan, Barrett, Nimoy and Whitney not making it past 85 and 5 months.
I hope Shatner starts a trend with the remaining actors living well into their 80s and beyond.

Just opened my shiny new box of TOS Blu-Rays and watched Shatner chewing up the scenery in The Enemy Within today.

Keep yourself fit and you basically recharge your batteries seems to be the thing to a longer life! Unfortunately not everyone is capable of doing a bit of exercise!

I'd very much like to believe this, that 85 is not seriously old anymore. Are you sure? My overall impression has been that people are ageing and dropping like flies as they always have.

I'd say someone in their 80s is definitely old. But people these days are staying healthy, vigorous and active well into their sunset years. Remember Paul McCartney's "When I'm 64"? Today that song sounds more like it's about being 94!

The key has always been staying active - both physically and mentally and Shatner has definitely been doing both in spades for years!
