We all know the story - for those who don't, here's the wiki entry about the almost-made 1993 Doctor Who special (that was insanely replaced by Dimensions in Time).

Recently, several fans have aimed to release it via animation with several semi-professional voice actors, including, most curiously, Paul Jones, voicing the Fourth Doctor after having done so for Levine's Shada recon. The first part is already out:

Well, I'll watch more as it comes out and hope the pace picks up.

If nothing else, it stays true to the classic series in that it moves very slow, story-wise.

Thats rather extraordinarily harsh. I thought it was OK.

Depends on what he's talking about.

I thought the animation was terrible myself, but if the story starts going somewhere, I can forgive that. That McGann/Shada thing was not even animated, but was a really good telling of that story.

Remember the ST:TNG comic Outer Light? The art was bad there too, and I gave it the entire run to get a good story going. It didn't.

This being based on a story that was in the planning stages might make a better end result. I just hope they don't take really long periods to get more work out.

Its a fan-made animation of an abandoned story. Its not gonna be commisioned by the BBC anytime soon, and its out there for free, made by fans who wish to see the story realized.

So yes, I mean exactly that: Relax! Nobody is trying to have this sold as a DVD... unlike a certain super-fan wants to do with his "recons".

Sure, there are reasons that it's awful, but I can't imagine spending the time sitting through another segment! Even the ostensibly professionally done part (the writing) is terrible.

If I remember, I'll give the 2nd part a chance when it's out. Give it time to see if it picks up. The premise is interesting but the first part is just slow and dull.

The limitations of a fan piece done out of love and on a low budget are really not particularly interesting to me - the value of such a thing is that we can a sense of what was intended/planned.

Does anyone have any more photos of the Cyberman that was intended to be in this? I can find one picture but no more and its an interesting design?

Sorry dude, it's only the one photo they did. Here it is again though anyways.

While we're at it here's another concept I found on the internet, they should've used it instead of that crappy 2013 design.

Some of those faces are literally copied directly from the FX show "Archer."

I got through about 4 minutes of the first episode before I had to stop. It was unbelievably boring.
