are we back to two separate threads? I kinda liked them combined.
Are you referring to the separate threads for "grading & discussion" and "live commentary"? It's been this way since season 2 when Lost got its own forum. A number of people wanted it like this because a single thread used to get pretty long.

wasn't there only one thread last week?

Or did I completely miss the commentary thread?

thanks. I should probably just stick with the discussion threads anyway as that's where most of the action is anyway.

Yeah - but the Live Commentary thread is there for us to exclaim - Wasn't it cool how Jacob just appears out of the jungle and asks "Got a minute, Hurley?".

Which it totally was.

Lost is never boring, but I just couldn't give this one anything above an "average". It wasn't bad, it just wasn't anything super special.

- So, there's a lighthouse on the island. I asked myself... Why haven't we seen it before. Then sure enough, Jack asks the same thing. It was another "we have to watch this again" moment. The showrunners know how to anticipate our every thought. :bolian:

- The flashsideways was actually pretty decent.

- Jack's kid looks like a young Matthew Fox.

- I hope we see Christian soon. We never saw why he was appearing to Jack in the season 4 flashforwards.

- Breaking those mirrors seemed like a boneheaded move.

- I think it's Desmond who's coming to the island.

Who is coming to the Island? Put your votes in now!

I think it might be Walt

So Claire is Evil, Man in Black a.k.a Smokey a.k.a John Locke is evil, and apparently Christian's ghost is evil, since he lead Claire into the Jungle in the first place, and apparently positioned Locke where he needed to be to receive the man in black. So whatever the "infection" comes from, it seems to put people on the side of The man in Black. He seems to be gaining followers.

Jacob does things way differently, less aggressively. I definitely see the good vs. evil themes here.

So the lighthouse came out of no where, oh well, it was explained they just never saw it, or could see it perhaps. It seems to have mystical properties, able to draw people to the island by focusing it on that persons name, and it is possible it could draw them through time, starting on that persons past, to where they were as a child. Interesting device. At first I thought because the episode was titled Lighthouse it would connect to the Dharma Lighthouse station, but it did not, so it tricked me.

Good episode, more mystery of course, but things are slowly aligning, and the Man in Black is building his army. Jacob is also, but in a different way, but showing people they have a purpose or something. It was also interesting that Jacob said Hurley couldn't see him when he was away, he must have been somewhere even Hurley couldn't see, something beyond death? Some other universe or dimension where he resides? I dunno, just found that little comment interesting.

I'm really not quite sure what to make of this installment. It was interesting. But I can't say that, as a whole, that it was "good" episode. It seems more like one of those "links in the chain" than an episode which was self-contained and of inherent value.

3/4 Well it was better than the Kate episode. Loved Jacob sending Hurley on a nonsensical mission. Loved the Jack and Hurley pairing. Loved finding a new piece of Island architecture. The Jack side-story was interesting (even though I still feel they're a waste of time). I'm not crazy about Claire being a crazy murderer but after three years of Cerebus brainwashing her I guess it's not so hard to swallow.

I'm assuming the person coming to the Island is Widmore because we need to resolve his story. But does Jacob consider Widmore to be a good guy? Or possibly Aaron to fulfill his role in the story.

I'll give it an above average.

I didn't find Crazy Claire too convincing at first but man, did Emilie de Ravin really sell it by the end. Creepy as hell.

Poor Jin is stuck in misery.
Loved the early stuff with Hurley. He has become a truly
great character.

We learn how Jacob has been following the survivors and what happened to Claire...still feel like we didn't get a lot of answers though and Jack's AU wasn't exactly enthralling. Plus, Jacob is a real douche. That being said, I did enjoy this episode.

Heh, I just realized something. Back when Season One first started we all thought the Losties would separate into "good" and "evil" groups led by Jack and Locke. It seemed to be happening when Jack went to the caves and Locke stayed on the beach. It seemed like it was going to be The Stand. Now... Jack is in charge of the good group and "Locke" is in charge of the bad group! We're going back to The Stand after all!

^^I'd like to see it be Desmond, Widmore, and/or Walt. All three would be awesome. Who wants to see their spin-off show set on their boat to the island? It'll probably be really cool and fit perfectly no matter who it is, as long as it's not some brand new character.

I gave this one an Above Average. Terrific stuff in the flash-sideways, and Fox continues to deliver. He's come a long way from season 1 where I didn't really like him at all as an actor. The bit about the appendectomy had me paying close attention, as I thought that was one of the lamer parts of the 4th season. Looks like it's going somewhere! Also, Jack having a son further cements the idea that Jacob's death has caused these two timelines, and Jughead had nothing to do with it. Awesome.

Great stuff between Hurley and Jack, and seeing the caves again was really, really cool. That's the sort of call-back other shows just don't do. Hurley's not-so-subtle "hey maybe the skeletons are us" was hilarious. Then the WTF Lighthouse was yet another puzzle/mystery (as if we needed more) but it worked. I yelled at the screen "Don't do it, Jack!" knowing full well he was going to smash it. Completely in character for him to do something ridiculously irrational.

I have to say I wasn't very interested in Claire's story; she wasn't all that interesting back when she was still on the show other than her scenes with Charlie, who's long gone. But it picked up in a big way with "That's not John...that's my friend!" Someone picked the wrong team...

Great flash sideways in this one. First time Jack has been likeable in a while. Loved the lighthouse and can't wait to see screencaps of the names. I also swear I saw Henry Ian Cusick credited.
