Firefly reference. In the movie 'Serenity', Wash crash landed their ship, then was impaled by a pole of steel from the Reavers' (insane bad guys) ship. Wash, the pilot, was killed.

Have you seen the Firefly movie Serenity?

Damn, guess I shoulda checked out the next page. Wow, scatterbrained tonight.

The problem with the O6 saving everybody:
Either they still have to fulfill their destiny and the reason for them being there has not yet been revealed, or
It's sort of a complex chicken-and-the-egg thing.
To save everyone on the island Locke had to turn the donkey wheel.
To make him do that, he needed a reason to leave the island.
Bringing the O6 back provided that reason.
So at this point it might be inconsequential that he actually succeeded.

Or it could actually be both.

I'm still a bit unclear on why the donkey wheel was off-axis when Locke turned it. Hadn't they been transported back to ancient times (when the statue was still around) when Locke turned it? So wouldn't that have put them many years before the donkey wheel would have been put off axis in the first place?

Or does the chamber containing the donkey wheel exist "outside of time" or something?

Nope, haven't seen it.

Most of the relevant scene is here: link but unfortunately it cuts off about half a second before the referenced event. If you do intend to watch the movie at some point, be warned that (FX-wise at least) this is pretty much the climax.

Apparently, when they cut immediately from the 1977 new recruits photo that Christian shows Frank and Sun to the footage of them actually having their picture taken, there's a guy on the right of the photo that goes missing:

Is this just a flub? A guy who ran up into the shot at the last minute before the picture was taken? Or does it actually mean something?
What's that circle supposed to be highlighting in the lower right side of the second picture?
