Lord of the Rings Conquest

Mr Light

I was extremely excited for this game to come out because I love to play Star Wars Battlefront II over and over again and this was supposed to be the same format. But when it actually came out it got poor reviews so I forgot about it. Now it's on clearance at Target for $20.

So... how was LOTR Conquest? For someone who loved Star Wars Battlefront does it compare well?

I think the fact that it's clearance says it all.

The fact that EA dropped the LOTR license probably means that the game isn't going to be fixed at all as well.

Which sort of makes me want to go find a PC copy of the RTSes they made before they disappear forever, but there ya go.

Same here, Mr Light, I never get tired of Battlefront II... and I've been dying for a sequel... I had no idea that LOTR Conquest was supposed to be similar to Battlefront. (and it was developed by Pandemic too!) I've read through a few reviews though and it sounds pretty bad. I think I'll avoid it for now. :(

Loved SWBF 1 9even joined a clan for it) , hated the noobfied sequel that followed and this game looks like another horseshite from pandemic. However they have that Sabetour game coming out which looks half decent.

Did anyone see SWBF 3 leak images and vids from when it got taken too a new company before they went bust, looked dam epic though rumors are SWBF 3 will happen still.

Apparently the problem with LotR Conquest was that EA's LotR license was about to expire, so they had to release it before it did. I believe WB now has the license, their first game is going to be a cartoony visuals LotR game for the Wii made by the Battalion Wars 2 and House of the Dead Overkill developer.

I wonder if they're still allowed to patch the game or if they can't do squat with it completely.

That's an interesting spin to put on events. "We had to release the game because our license was about to expire!"

How about not starting work on a game if you don't have time to finish it, not releasing a game if it isn't fit for publication, or coming to some kind of arrangement that would allow for a short delay?

I can just see EA's CEO being tortured in the rack, perspiration across his brow as he struggles desperately to avoid rushing a release...

I haven't touched an EA LOTR game since The Third Age. What a piece of crap that was.
That was actually that game that introduced me into RPGs. It felt so fresh and exciting since I hadn't played an RPG since Dragon Warrior on O.G. Nintendo. Then I moved onto Final Fantasy 12 which is pretty much the only RPG that I've truly loved.

I keep waiting for the next-gen Star Wars Battlefront III! They're missing easy money. Apparently this one company was working on it but it went tits up and now someone else is restarting it.

I would think a patch would be okay but I don't know about pay DLC.

It's definitely a weak link in the Lord of the Rings gaming franchise. (And I'm saying this as someone who's playing through The Third Age. Twice.)

If all you want is a hack-n-slash, it's probably worth the twenty dollars. It wasn't worth sixty.
