Hi,
Ten years ago I came across an old paperback novel, which was subsequently recommended to me. I'm trying to find it again, and am hoping what little I can describe might ring a bell for someone.
-The book opens with a character (the protagonist?) in a jail cell, presumably for political reasons
-I believe the book involved an allegory for a political revolution, probably communist or socialist in nature. But I don't think it was based on an actual historical event, just an allegory.
-The paperback had a black cover, with simple red or gold font.
-The cover also had an image - I think it might have been a disembodied brain or a set of eyes.
I'd definitely recognize the cover if I saw it. I'm sure, for fans of that kind of book, it'd be fairly well-known.
Any ideas? Sorry I don't have much to go on, I never got more than a few pages in, and that was ten years ago.
