Looking for Source for Memory Beta

Some four years ago, when the Tezwa dilogy was released, David Mack indicated that the USS Republic seen in A Time To Heal was intended to be a Sovereign class vessel, which the ship page and class page currently reflect on Memory Beta. Unfortunately, the thread appears to have been pruned. Does anyone know if the thread might have been backed up somewhere, or if the information might have been copied somewhere else? (Or, David, could you provide another attribution?)

^ Yes. (Though I think the thread here was pruned before the article came into being.) I'm looking for either a copy of the long-ago-pruned thread, a copy of the authorial comment, or a new comment, to support the ship being listed as Sovereign class.

I can't remember, honestly. I checked my original manuscripts and found no text to support it. Though if it had been up to me, yes, the Republic in service in 2379 would have been a Sovereign-class starship, and the Musashi would have been a Nebula-class ship.

Elizabeth Shelby is secretly a Changeling who will take over the Alpha Quadrant after it is devastated by the Typhon Pact, right?

Little does Picard know that Shelby's cunning plan for Quadrant domination involves masquerading as items of womens' clothing ...

Do you still need this, now that David Mack has provided a new comment? This'll probably sound geeky (even for this place ;)!), but back in the pre-Memory Alpha/Beta days, I used to save off interesting factoids I read here in .txt files for later reference. I checked, and I do have a .txt copy of the original comment. However, there are two problems with this:

1. It is just a text file containing the body of the post... didn't include the poster's name or date or anything, so there's really nothing to prove it was the original comment, and it is therefore likely meaningless as an encyclopedic reference.

2. Not sure if it's considered crass to repost something someone else said long ago, so I guess I'd want to hear it was OK with Mr. Mack before going ahead and posting it.

However, if you still want to see it, and David Mack doesn't mind, I'd be happy to repost the original comment for you.

^ OK, thank you, sir.

The file was timestamped Sept 14, 2004, which is of course when I saved it, not necessarily when it was posted. Here's what was in the file (the attribution I obviously typed in myself for my own reference):

Okay, I know some people love this technobabble about starship classes. Bottom line: It wasn't important. In case you're wondering, I did decide what those starships were before I wrote the story, but when I was writing the book there was no artful way to insert the information without it coming off as an unmotivated technobabble dump. But since it seems to have impaired your reading experience, I'll fill you in: the Republic is Sovereign-class; the Amargosa is Nebula-class; and the Musashi is Akira-class.
The post itself wasn't directed at me, but I saved it because I'm one of those weird people who love technobabble about starship classes! :techman:
