Looking for a Trek-related song - Help!

USS Triumphant

Vice Admiral
Admiral
I'm looking for a bluegrass/country song from the 80s or very early 90s that had a fairly fast tempo - think "East Bound and Down" - and each verse ended with "Beam me up Scotty, ain't no intelligent life down here". The end faded with them periodically repeating "Beam me up, Scotty.......beam me uuuuup" in vocal harmony reminiscent of a train whistle.

Anyone know who this was by, or what the name of it is? (I would think "Beam Me Up" or "Beam Me Up, Scotty", but my Google-fu has had a rare failure. :klingon:)

P.S. It isn't the song off the Dr. Demento collection. That is slower and much more melodic.

Demento had many Trek parody songs aired; just because it's not on the collection, doesn't mean they didn't air that one at some point.

Well, true - But I specifically mean it isn't the song named "Beam Me Up, Scotty" that is on Dr. Demento's Hits From Outer Space album.

I'm coming across a few songs containing similar lyrics, but nothing remotely resembling up-tempo bluegrass.

Edit:

Wait a minnit -- how's this? (Look at Track 2.) It's not really bluegrass, but it's got that "Eastbound and Down" country-pickin' thang going on.

Would you settle for "Rocket Man", sung by the great one himself, Mister William Shatner?
