Looking for a 'living dead' comic...

Mr. Laser Beam

Fleet Admiral
Admiral
I could have sworn Clive Barker wrote this (or at least the first issue). It was basically a reboot of Night of the Living Dead. I distinctly remember it starting when a zombie manages to infect a woman who subsequently boards an airplane. She transforms while in the lavatory, then breaks out and infects everyone else on board. The plane lands on autopilot and the zombie passengers and crew subsequently spread the plague far and wide.

Anyone ever heard of this? If so, what's it called and who wrote it?

The best I can remember is a black-and-white miniseries from 1990 or so. There was a subplot about the (fictional) President's wife who was zombified and locked in a cell by the Secret Service while they tried to figure out what to do. This was not the main plot of the story, which had to do with a general zombie apocalypse.

One of the zombies, Jack something or other, retained enough intelligence and personality to classify as the main villain. At the end of the miniseries, the hero, whoever he was, was in a final battle with Jack and defeated him. Just before he destroyed Jack, he yelled something like, "This one's for all the people you killed!" Jack replies, "Including you?"

Turns out the hero had been mortally wounded before or even during the fight, and by the time it concluded, he was actually a zombie himself. His response (after blowing away Jack) was "Including me!" and he blew his own brains out. The end.

This was before the advent of fast-moving zombies or evolved zombies or intelligent zombies, so I thought it was very interesting. The concept of someone who's been zombified, who retains enough willpower to still fight on the side of life. Enough that they're also able to destroy themselves to protect everyone else.

Probably not much help to you though, Mr. Laser Beam. Sorry.
