Living Witness Season 4

VulcanGuy

Lieutenant
Wow, what an episode. To me, it represented what Voyager could have been.

Those Borg 'shock troopers' were a great idea. Since watching the episode earlier in the season where seven goes rogue and moves into that hostile species' space and one of them says "You have Borg on your ship?!". I always wondered what that would be like on board. Having Tuvok become a Romulan was a great touch too.

The only weaknesses were the directing and Harry Kim's acting. The evil Kim was identical to the regular one, lol!

For me this episode represented a bit of a confusing situation. In the final scene of Living Witness the docent tells of the Doc's life after all the dust settled, He became the Director of some Medical Facility for a few years and finally telling them that he took off in a ship headed for the AQ.

However, In Endgame his life playes out it a totally different way, he never leaves Voyager, gets back to the AQ, he has at job a Star Fleet Medical, and he get's married, and becomes Doc Joe, so which timeline am I supposed to think...

'the backup' was the one that was captured and and activated on the planet which creates another plot hole as there isn't supposed to be enough space for a backup. the only way i can understand it is the alien species made a copy of the doctor's program before leaving the ship.

Yeah, so in about 700 or 800 years (they didn't say how long the backup doctor ran that alien medical facility) when the backup doc decided to head for the Federation, The orignal Doc is probably somewhere in the Federation assuming he is still active. We don't know if the Federation still exists then.

Plot holes and confusion aside, yes, it is a great episode - one of my favorites. I've probably watched it about 5 times at least.

Even though Voyager ended up severely disappointing me in its final 1 1/2 seasons, I still believe that some of the standalone episodes were arguably the best that Trek has ever produced.

(And on a tangent, I love using that word 'arguably', because it cannot be attacked - it is so vague and meaningless - arguable by whom?) :)

By coincidence, I just watched 'Living Witness' again last night. I agree, its a great ep. One of my favourites. EMH centric episodes are usually a cut above the norm.

That was not just a lot of fun, it was also a pretty serious issue - revisionist history.

The only disappointment was that we didn't see an evil Torres.

I think it was a great ep in that it shows the importance of history today. History is more of a contentious issue that many people admit.

Amazing episode. This ep. helped convince me to give the rest of Voyager a chance after avoiding it for a long time. I've always wished that one of the Trek writers would have followed up what happened to the backup Doc, since we definitely won't ever see anything like that onscreen.

This has been and still is one of my favorite Voyager episodes. True it has its holes, but the story is a fun one.
