Almost makes me sad I left the old hometown. We always were a proper Trek town. Then again it's in NE Portland. I love Trek but I'm not gonna get mowed down in a drive-by to watch it performed live.

Really? How about:
1) well-written script;
2) based upon actors' interactions;
3) very little to no special effects required.

Good points, Doug, from a production standpoint; hadn't really thought about it. I just assumed it was because it's one whose story and characters everyone knows, as the back story for the second movie.

I note it's still going on for those in the area: a whole month of weekends until Aug. 1.
