Live action film of Cats (2019)

So there's a trailer up for a live-action adaptation of the famous Broadway show, and the visual effects are... rather odd, IMO. I admit to me they seem a bit creepy, and maybe not the best choice. I'm keeping an open mind, naturally, they just seem weird.

Some people have commented on the weirdness of Judy Dench apparently wearing a fur coat, when she's already a humanoid cat. Some of the comments have been rather entertaining.

Looks kinda intriguing, actually. "Weird" is not necessarily bad. Sometimes the weirder, the better! :)

Judi Dench is a nice surprise since she was supposed to be in the original production of Cats but she broke her leg before hand was was replaced with Elaine Page.

Fred Fletch's take:

After watching the trailer for the movie-adaptation of CATS, the idea of Elon Musk drilling 4 robot fuck-holes into my head doesn't actually seem all that bad.

As I've said in another thread, I have a problem with the gender-swapping of Old Deuteronomy, as he's supposed to be the father of many of the other younger cats, at least according to one theory.

That said, the more I see this trailer, the more I get the idea that they've come up with a backstory and plot to couch the music in, on top of the minimal plot from the original book and musical. It wouldn't surprise me to find this film to be a long one to account for it.
