Can't believe they're doing what? Making a more faithful adaptation than Disney, because that happens all the time.
It actually seems interesting. Besides which, I would have thought by now that there is an understanding that all of these classic stories will eventually be remade every few years and reinterpreted for new audiences.
Yeah, it doesn't look like they're remaking the disney movie but more like making an adaptation to the original story.
I wonder how many kids were shocked when they read the fairy tale story after seeing the Disney movie? Not quite the same happy ending eh?
I read the HCA story first before ever watching the Disney flick. Honestly I prefer the disney movie's ending.
I'm not opposed to this at all. While I absolutely love the Disney movie, Disney did not invent the story.
The article has a picture of the book. There is also another retelling in the works from the director of "Hanna". One would assume that this is a live action project to answer Temis' question.
I can't believe you're whining about this. As others have pointed out its a classic story that has been told several times. Disney did not invent the Little Mermaid. What next, moaning about a new Dracula film?
Is doing an adaption, of a retelling of a Hans Christian Anderson story really a "remake"? Why not just simply say an adaption of Carolyn Turgeon's Mermaid: A Twist on the Classic Tale The word "remake" gets thrown around alot but mostly it seems to turn out someone is simply doing their own adaption of something, in this case a movie based on a derivative work inspired by Anderson's tale of a mermaid. Happens a lot in art.
^ Dream's article does say that it is an adaption of the book which is a retelling of the classic story.
The Romulans and Capulets twist is fine, but, really, they're going to stick The Mermaid Title on this interpretation, so soon after the Special Edition re-Release DVD? Disney would do that to the Ariel character, I know Disney does "wrecked emotionally", but, it's always the ones you root for that are happy ever after Oh, nevermind, I didn't read the article and assumed Disney was re-doing it, My bad, comment retracted
Romeo Montague. My fingers typed Romulans and Capulets, by mistake, and I thought it was funny, so I left it. Well, I thought it was funny. I'm a great lover of the Romeo and Juliet story (1968 movie, West Side story, etc)
Eh...It's a Trek board, I was watching a Tasha Yar Jr episode of TNG, and made a typo, and decided to leave it, 'cause I thought it was funny I amde the typo,... Oh nevermind, you had to be there.
I thought the "Romulans" line was clever. Anyway, if Flounder isn't in this movie it can burn in hell!
