List what past medium and stories you think would make a good sequel!

TOS and the TV series are obvious, but what story or plot pattern from any medium would you like to see as a model for ST stories: For example, a Khan story/STII is being listed as possible model for the sequel.

Personally, I want to see see them continue with an epic feel but I want to be carried away on a quest story(like LOTR), one where a lot of character dynamics happen with say...a group of aliens or members of starfleet, where the enemy or villian is important but not central to the story at all times. By this, I mean a story like STNG's "The Chase" or TAS's "Jihad" would be the pattern for the story.

I am sure some people would like a previous novel like Vendetta or The Romulan Way as a movie. What are your thoughts??

The Romulans need more development, or any development, even after all this time they are still little more than cyphers. I wanted that in Trek XI and really, it didn't happen. Probably would require Trek return to TV for it to happen, there just isn't enough time in a movie, inbetween action and explosions.

The Mirror Universe. Old Spock knows all about it and can warn Starfleet, which raises the interesting possibility of 1) a random transporter accident happening anyway (does Spock actually know what caused the first accident so that it can be prevented?) or 2) Starfleet deliberately setting out to undermine the Terran Empire (hey they can be meddling do-gooders in two realities!)
